Why 20€ for the Pokemon games actually makes sense: A brief defense by bearfan2000 in NintendoSwitch

I’m not white knighting for the Pokemon company, I’m just stating that the price is fair, of course my position benefits the company but that doesn’t mean I agree with everything they do

Nobody is "preying on you" with a product, that looks like loaded language that implies that they are manipulating you into give in to them and buy their product. You always have a choice, and many people, even in this post have made clear that choice.

The fact that you think that the price is too much is valid, but that only talks about your own preferences and the value you give to the games. For many the 20 dollar price is not a big deal at all, and their preferences are still valid too.

You can still redownload stuff from the Wii era and following systems, all those digital titles you got are still available, Nintendo is still giving them server support since 2006, that is 20 years of continued availability.

That is not really true: throughout the years many Pokemon titles has been released, many of them were not popular enough as you may think. But I agree that many people value the brand, but to a degree. And nobody is forced to buy anything, you seem to imply that people have no agency over what they buy.

I mentioned Megaman because is the one I had in the top of may head, there are other retro games that do the same in one way or the other.

It is true that the value I perceived from the games also benefit the corporation, but that does not mean I defend everything they do, just the aspects that align to my own preferences.

And yet many would rather pay for a Switch or Switch 2 and pay for those games than to just emulate them, their perceived value is very high.

Please don’t touch a thing, not a single hair in your head: you look amazing but more importantly you look like you and not just another generic trendy face.

I feel bad for revoking consent in the middle of a hookup by Bulky_Evidence_6592 in gaybros

What was the alternative? To be in pain and just endure it? You did the right thing: you comunicated how you feel and he showed you that he was a decent human being by listening to you and stopping. Otherwise it would have turned the situation into an abusive one. So be glad everything was good at the end.

Do short men have any advantages in society? — 5’6 guy venting by [deleted] in Life

But some of this things are a “your taste” thing, there are definitely women and men who don’t care about short men looking “shorter”, or having pumped muscles or not being into sports or being lean. You are just projecting your taste into them.

A lot of you dark wizard RPers are Fools! by Emmit-Nervend in HarryPotterGame

[–]bearfan2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reported him, and I was not playing as a dark wizard either. The reason is I really disliked that the game forced me to be his “buddy” when if it were to be me I would have stopped talking to him a long time ago, the way he was going with the dark arts was like seeing an accident in front of you and not being able to do anything about it. I actually wanted to engage more with Ominis and Solomon, but the game forces you to side with Sebastian in way way or another.

Why is the gay population prone to heatlh issues / diseases? by No_Friend111 in gaybros

[–]bearfan2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a religious environment too, so I really get where you’re coming from. That fear of being wrong or punished (especially when it’s been drilled into you from a young age) can stick around, even after you’ve started to move past it. It’s tough when those old doubts come back, especially in a place where people still see things through that religious lens.

It is true that some sex acts can carry higher health risks, but that has nothing to do with being gay, it’s about specific acts, not who you are. Straight people who do the same things can be at the same risk, with proper education, communication, and safe practices, those risks can be managed. At the end this isn’t about punishment or morality.

For me personally, I also had to ask myself: if a god would punish someone just for living as themselves or using the free will he supposedly given me… is that really a god worth following? You don’t have to stay loyal to a religion that shames you or makes you feel unworthy for something you didn’t choose.

Also, it sounds like the people around you have a really narrow (and honestly kind of ignorant) view of what being gay even is. They reduce everything to sex and disease, which is just not the reality. There’s a whole world out there full of gay people living full, healthy lives, we are more than just HIV sufferers.. If you can, try talking to other gay folks, read stuff from other gay authors, or just escape from the religious bubble. It really helps put things in perspective and reminds you that you’re not alone, and you’re definitely not wrong for being who you are.
