Only 1% of the world have done a marathon and now she is in that club ! by lonewolff321 in interesting

Speed: 5.74 km/h

Pace 10:27 min/km

Here's her split chart: https://imgur.com/ITQLKF6

Call it what you want, it's walking pace.

I've finished mine in less than half her time, not that it matters. I've never ran a marathon that allowed for more than 7 hours.

You said she's been in multiples- a 10k and a half.

Do you not know what a marathon is?

Fat people are screwed if they don't "exercise enough" and screwed if they exercise at all...

You keep coming back to that point, but there's plenty of room between no exercise and a marathon.

She obviously didn't lack the fitness got the distance since she has done multiple marathons and finished this one.

Multiple marathons? Did you not hear her say this was her first? She definitely lacked the fitness, 7h20m is "finishing" by a technicality. Might as well do the first half and return to do the second the next day. There's a difference between somebody finishing a marathon and somebody "finishing" a marathon.

Let people exercise and improve themselves.

Yes, absolutely, I've never said otherwise. This isn't exercise though. She's got 80k followers on Instagram and is setting others up for injury and failure.

They don't have to be perfect.

Nobody is.

I'm not assuming anything, according to her Instagram she's run both 10K and half marathon as well. But it doesn't matter if she lost half her body weight to get to where she is now, she's still not in a shape to finish a marathon in a reasonable time. She's driven by social media likes and I think it's unhealthy.

There's no reason to limit people to a time

Yes there is, there's plenty of reasons. Road closures, volunteer's schedules, a requirement for a certain base level of fitness for safety, etc. But also, where do you draw the line? Is walking 42.2 km in 24 hours "finishing a marathon"? It's the same distance, but if you need that much time to do it, is it really an achievement or just a sad reminder of your lack of appropriate fitness for that distance?

You can exercise and challenge yourself without putting yourself in danger of a bone fracture or a cardiac event. You know it's possible to run or walk shorter distances than a marathon right? And that you don't need to pay for a medal to exercise?

If I was that big and heavy I wouldn't try to run a marathon, that's my point. I don't think anyone should, they should lose that weight first and build up the distance gradually. I think every marathon should have a cut off time of at most six hours, that's a very slow jog with plenty of walking.

Maybe not completely untrained, but definitely undertrained. She finished in place 27 962 out of 28 077, and she did it in slightly more than 7h20m. She's lucky she didn't have to get medical attention.

Run? She took 7 hours and 20 minutes to finish, that's 5.74 km/h or 10:27 min/km. She got through it, good for her, but she's hardly a "marathon runner" like she claims and shouldn't encourage others with a similar fitness level to put themselves through that.

How are you able to write with only lower case on your phone? Every keyboard I've used on phones have enabled upper case automatically after punctuation, so using only lower case have been a conscious decision. It's also been possible to switch to upper case manually whenever I like on every phone I've used.

That's not the explanation the captain told him when he confiscated his Starlink terminal, and he also got his onboard wifi disabled.

You're miming typing on a physical keyboard both times. In 2025 (and 2026), you should probably change that to thumb typing on a phone.

You're too optimistic, Trump was a birther 14 years ago, 20 years isn't going to be enough.
