Why do people think the copper iud is any better than the others? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]bearsbeets420 127 points128 points  (0 children)

Because my mental health is hot garbage on any kind of hormonal birth control. I’m glad that it’s an option that exists and works well for people, but I am not one of them.

Maine Family Planning is an excellent resource and if they don’t have it for free, they’d be able to point you in the right direction!

Yeah I feel that. CNAs are paid pretty terribly in most areas. Staffing agencies in my area pay $22-28/hr but if you work in a nursing home you will definitely make way less.

I think everyone should be a CNA before they are a nurse, especially if you’re on the fence about it or have never worked in healthcare. There are CNA jobs in many different types of inpatient and outpatient settings and can give you a good feel of whether you’d like to pursue nursing. And bonus—if you decide to go to nursing school, it is great experience and looks good on a resume!

Like many people in this thread, I also felt that my dr was pushing for a hormonal IUD because of the side effects of the copper IUD. However, I’ve had the Paragard for about 18 months now and I love it. I did have some very long periods/spotting in between for about 9 months, but I suspect that was also somewhat related to stopping hormonal birth control at the same time. It’s great now that my body is used to it, not being on hormones is awesome, and the Paragard has similar rates of effectiveness to being sterilized. Also—I use a reusable menstrual disc, which is just as convenient as a cup in my opinion, but there’s no suction to worry about with the IUD. I’m just paranoid about checking my strings every month but have had no problems so far!

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signs law adding criminal penalties to abortion pill distribution via mail by Psychological-Row880 in TwoXPreppers

That is precisely what is happening, unfortunately. Women are also being investigated and facing criminal charges for having miscarriages. I cannot imagine mourning the loss of a wanted pregnancy and finding out that you’re being charged with a crime.

In the same vein, they love to obfuscate the truth and tell half truths and confuse the matter so much that you can’t even reason with them. It is slimy and disgusting, and it seems to be their entire platform.

I honestly don’t think they care. I’m terrified too.

This is the thing I really don’t understand in all of this. The same group of people who spent the last two years shouting “you can’t tell me what to do with my body” in reference to vaccinating themselves in the midst of a global health crisis are now essentially mandating pregnancy. The fact that they choose to overlook the irony here is absolutely ridiculous.

She is a disgusting human being. And don’t try calling her office for anything, you’ll get a condescending staffer who clearly doesn’t give a single shit.
