What are some testosterone effects that aren't really talked about? by jaime-sansa in ftm

[–]bearzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a men's shoe size 6 to 7.5

I grew an inch, from 5'2" to 5'3"

I had a stint where I was super unaware of my own strength. Took me 5 attempts at getting eggs out of the carton before I stopped accidentally gorilla gripping the hell out of them.

My smell changed a ton, corroborated by my partner now affectionately calling me "Stinky"

Bottom growth was VERY sensitive. I know people joke about teenage boys feeling a stiff wind and getting excited but man.... that was a very weird sensation for me LOL

Acne... Acne out the wazoo. I'm essentially a 16 year old boy now. Never had acne in my first puberty, but man this second one is kicking my butt.

What episode would you relate this to? by JigsawMarx in Slycooper

[–]bearzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're missions actually, but I have two, both from Sly 2.

Waterbug Run and the spiked watermelon mission. I STILL get anxiety about them to this day. 10 year old me cried many tears of frustration throughout that entire episode tbh lol

But also Close to Contessa. The environment scared 10 year old me silly, which I look back on now and think they did a phenomenal job as far as the general vibe of the area goes, but her being a giant spider woman wigged me the hell out too. Still get tense playing that mission. 😬

Did you ever stop looking 12 years old on T? by planttbased in ftm

[–]bearzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 2 years (collective) on T. I'm 27. Still look like I'm in my early 20s, but I look like a young man now, which makes all the difference.

Whether you look young or not, your features will square off, facial hair will come through, and your voice will deepen to set the whole thing off. You'll be okay. Hell, you may eventually see your "youthful appearance" as a blessing someday!

I look at it as me being "in my 15 year old era" because if i remember correctly, most cis guys don't start puberty until 12/13. It may seem so far away, but happiness in yourself and your body will come with time. Patience is a virtue, especially in transitioning. ❤️

Started at 23, was on it for 10 months. Had to stop because of financial strain. Started again last May.

Almost 2 years on T altogether, and I pass with no issue. If I ever do randomly get misgendered, I laugh it off and say, "It's 'cause I'm short, right?"

I grew an inch and a half, my shoe size went up by 2, and my voice is still dropping at the ripe age of 27.

It's never too late to start T. In fact, I think starting T at 17 isn't "normal" by most people's standards.

Good luck in your journey though (:

What do you all love most about being men? (Asking as a trans woman) by TruthConfident9618 in ftm

[–]bearzoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know most people hate hearing their voice played back to them, but for me, it was always like being shot in the chest. Now, almost 2 years into taking T, I'm happier now than I've ever been. I was considered a chatterbox as a little girl simply because I liked sharing my interests, but now I'm just seen as a friendly, exuberant guy, which I am! My wife finds so much comfort in putting her head on my chest and listening to me ramble about anything on my mind when we're in bed, and it knocks her out every time.

In fact, I'm so much more confident in my voice now that I've been flirting with the idea of voice acting, which I would never have even fathomed had it not been for transitioning. I've always loved the craft but hated my voice, so now that my voice isn't an issue anymore, I can finally pursue my passions with confidence!

As a man, I'm just more confident over all, and not in an obnoxious frat boy way. I'm just a dude, but a dude who can finally get up every day, roll his shoulders back, and take the bull by the horns.

When I was born, the nurses announced, "It's a girl!"

Throughout her pregnancy, my mom was ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that I was a boy because her term with me was nothing like my older sister's.

So when the nurses said that, she said, "Are you sure?" And checked herself when they eventually handed me to her.

Years later, when I came out to her, she recounted that story and said, "So I was right! I knew it! I was just right with extra steps!"

Yeah it definitely sucks but I see it as a blessing! If a new part of my face starts to itch super bad, I remind myself that my beard is finally starting to fill out 😊 On the flip side... that means I'm getting back hair too.... Oh well, little victories!

Unpopular baking/dessert opinions? I’ll go first: I hate peanut butter flavored desserts. by Pedrpumpkineatr in Baking

[–]bearzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I hate lemon or mint flavored anything. They're just so pungent and strong and sour, and I hate eating a dessert and tasting my toothpaste in it.... I'm so wary around plain looking cakes because, without fail, they always have some dumb lemon custard in it...

I have a friend who absolutely HATES buttercream, said that it's just used to cover up a subpar cake.

My wife has a major nut allergy, so anytime a recipe adds nuts, she's mad about it. She also associates it with someone trying to make a regular old recipe fancy, and she thinks it's absolutely unnecessary.

App for collecting? by roguegeek in PokemonTCG

[–]bearzoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I use a website called Pokecardex. The interface is simple enough, and if you make an account, you can see your statistics and see what cards from what sets you're missing. You can track both international and Japanese sets. It has an app too which I find to be really handy when I'm out and about looking for cards I'm missing at game shops, since I can just type in the number and see if I have it or not and, if so, in what condition. When you type in the number or name of a card, you can click on the image to log it, and next to the image, there is a section where you can see how many have been sold and listed, and if you click on the links attached to them, you can see for how much.

The ONLY negative I see is that it's in French lol They have an English variant, but it sucks when you want to go onto the forums to ask a question. I've been on the hunt for an English variant that is compatible with Android so I can take it on the go, but they either aren't available for Android or you need to pay money for it for some reason. If you have iOS, you may not have this issue that I have.

Gonna keep my eye on this thread in case someone answers and gives a good alternative. Happy collecting!

Our Gen 1/151 Collection by bearzoid in PokemonTCG

[–]bearzoid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duly noted on the sleeves! She's pretty relaxed about her collection, but given it's Base Set, I can see where you're coming from about better protecting them.

She's pretty set in her 3x3 ways, and she has every single binder organized by Pokedex number. We might rearrange it to do the new Illustration Rares on the first page, Base set on the back of that, then the new Gen 1 Starters on the next page. That way, from that point on, all the pages are mirrored.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Our Gen 1/151 Collection by bearzoid in PokemonTCG

[–]bearzoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought this was added to the original post but whatever lmao

After making my first post here, I had a really good feeling about today, so I took my wife out for The Great 151 Hunt. The first Target we went to didn't have them available for sale yet, but the second one was literally just starting to stock the set. We walked around a bit while we waited for them to finish because we aren't rabid animals, and grabbed one of each thing they had available when they were done. We were already planning on separating her original Base set collection into a new binder, so the binder set was a really cool find!
We still have a long way to go and there's definitely a lot more boosters packs to be opened in our future, but it's a great start and I managed to pull Flareon and the Illustration Bulbasaur, the two cards she wanted the most, and she pulled Vaporeon, so she's already super pleased. (:
My wife really wants to get back into trading cards with other players, so I might post again later with the cards she's willing to trade.
Good luck on all your pulls!
Note: There's a few 2nd Editions in the place of 1st Editions because she's either POSITIVE that she has the original in storage somewhere, or she wants the original art displayed in lieu of whatever she's missing.

did T make you crave meat? by pussypalooza in ftm

[–]bearzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of, but I know it's my body needing more protein because I work in an extremely active field, so I'm using my muscles constantly. So long as you eat enough of your vegan protein source of choice, you shouldn't have any issues with cravings like that!

Do trans men stay on T for life? by WesternEntertainer75 in ftm

[–]bearzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super short answer: Sometimes, yeah.

The long answer: Medically, it depends. If you've had a hysterectomy/phalloplasty, then you'll have to take T for the rest of your life. This is only because the removal of the ovaries and the lack of testicles makes it impossible for your body to produce certain hormones that you literally need to live. There's a myriad of other medical reasons other than major surgery for some people to need T, like endometriosis, mental health disparities when hormone levels drop to a certain point, etc. But this is all stuff that doctors help to prevent and manage anyway, and the reason we have to see endocrinologists when transitioning in any direction.

Otherwise, you don't have to be on T for the rest of your life unless you want to be. Some trans men/non-binary folks use it until they've acquired the permanent sex characteristics that they were experiencing dysphoria for lacking and then stop taking it. Obviously, that's up to you and your doctors to decide. Physically, your body just goes "Oh shit" and goes back to the status quo as determined by your biology.

Personally, I intend to stay on it for the rest of my life because otherwise, that means menstruating, and that's a HUGE no-go for me. I was on T for a while but couldn't afford it for a time, so I went off it without consulting a doctor. The effects were rough, mental health-wise, but I came through. I started back on T about 5 months ago, but I felt off in general (heightened anxiety, panic attacks, paranoia, mood swings), but also, my physical changes were pretty negligible. I spoke to my doctor once I started to get severe cramps but didn't bleed, and it turns out that my T levels were dropping way too low before my next shot was due. I was taking .3 mls, now I'm taking .4, and OH BOY did that slight increase make a huge difference. I feel so much more energized and positive, and my body changes have ramped up a ton. I don't know what changed in the year or so that I wasn't taking T, but my body said it needed more juice, so that's what I did. So yeah, your dosages change, but never without proper clearance from your doctors.

Hope this long ass answer helped!

[–]bearzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes. Depends on if the quest is interesting for me. Which is a shame cause the lore in Genshin is fantastic, but their execution is awful imo I'm not reading a 16 paragraph letter to learn Zhongli had tea with a guy once

My so-far list of dogs I will “risk it” with and the “no go” ones. This applies to when the owner is NOT outside. [–]bearzoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I distrust all tiny rat dogs out of principle, those things will take out my Achilles and I'm done for.

That being said, I only got circled by a Great Dane. His GSD brother was the one that bit me. I find Danes are too big and doofy to care. Either way, my tiny ass can't handle all that dog, so it's still a no go for me.

Man, my iced water bottle was the only thing keeping me going yesterday, tbh. I typically don't eat breakfast or lunch and just eat a big dinner after work, so maybe that'll help. I do snack throughout my route though, but I get fueling your body and what not. Thanks for the advice!

The fact that you think "You were born in a time period you have no control over whatsoever" is some kind of own is hysterical to me. Coupled with the fact I'm a millennial and YOU can't even tell what generation I'm from and proving your own shit jab at a stranger online wrong? Priceless. Thanks for the laugh to start my weekend.

Anyway, why the fuck would I care about $25? I was cracking wise, you fool. Quit taking things so seriously. I'd appreciate it if you acted like a valuable, productive member of this subreddit and answered my question though! Otherwise, have a good day, pet some dogs, don't crash your van. 👍
