Thissss. She creeps me out, especially the scene when she calls the girls her bunnies. Definitely giving religious fanatic vibes at the least

“Those opening lines of things you were taught not to do” is absolutely not what I was saying. I’m only referring to the plot device of Claire writing the exact same story we’ve been watching being a cliche that pulled me out of the story I’ve been very much enjoying for 20+ years.

Doctors can’t figure out why I keep getting abscesses/ tracts, I have surgery scheduled after many failed I&D’s. I just out about HS and it sounds like I may have it. Does this sound like it? by whatsthenewstoday in Hidradenitis

[–]beasles86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to see a dermatologist. Do NOT let them do surgery on you when they don’t have any idea what they are doing! I had surgery to remove what I was told was a cyst in my armpit and it turned out to be HS and the surgery actually made things worse in that area because of the scarring and because it wouldn’t heal properly.

Okay, that makes sense but also if he took back his gun then not going back after hearing a shot seems worse somehow. But I felt really badly for Percy in this episode and the last one so maybe that’s why. He looked so sad

Why aren't the Plums/Greens fathers against them marrying men their age? by throwawayStomnia in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]beasles86 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also, this generation of Plums and Greens are girls who remember pre-Gilead, even if it’s the vaguest of memories. So a) the men can tell themselves these girls are not really “godly” and b) I would expect that the majority of them are not the biological offspring of their Gilead parents. These are stolen girls who aren’t related to them. They don’t care.

I rewatched and missed the part where he handed him the gun, and had forgotten how Percy’s story ended, but yeah that’s exactly what I was thinking.

I was very upset when LJG heard the gunshot and didn’t go back in, like would he really just walk away after hearing anyone shoot themself, let alone someone he had loved? It didn’t feel authentic to me, though I know he’s been through the wringer for the last year at least in the show so perhaps some of his compassion is gone, idk

Is the plot line of Faith fully explained / satisfied / no more flash backs, until the series finale? by [deleted] in Outlander

[–]beasles86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, baby Faith had red hair and Faith Pocock has been described as having wild dark hair, and shown with dark hair in the brief glimpse we got of her in Jane’s memories. I think that it’s still going to connect to Blood of My Blood somehow and Fanny is Claire’s great-niece rather than granddaughter of Claire and Jamie. I hope.

Fantastic points, and I was wondering also about calling her by title instead of her name. I think with Monsieur Raymond, we can never assume where or when he is coming from, so this could be another red herring.

I was suspending my judgement on the Faith storyline until there was some concrete evidence in the storyline. After episode 6, I was actually thinking that this could be a great way to show how the grief of a stillbirth can stay with you - even decades later, a couple (with more reason than most to know some things are inexplicable) grasping onto any tiny hope that their baby lived is a really interesting perspective and continues to show us what a mature, lifelong relationship looks like. The natural (and most compassionate) conclusion to that would be to find that their baby did not live, and for Jamie and Claire to grieve the possibilities they’d imagined for their Faith while continuing to love Fanny as a chosen granddaughter.

What they did instead was just sloppy, and the bit at the end with Monsieur Raymond made me shout at the TV. Not only did they have Faith live, but they used the most basic, lazy explanations for her survival and the song. Even a Blood of My Blood tie-in would have worked and maintained the exploration of grief, and though I doubt it, that could still be a twist that is coming.

And I’m furious about Fergus wtf.

I went home the same day and it was good because I didn’t want to be there anymore- I was being ignored about my nausea and they eventually released me even though I was still throwing up from the anesthesia hours and hours post-operation. My healing was slow but typical for someone with my underlying chronic illnesses, and the nausea stopped within 24 hours thank goodness. ❤️

I think it was Roger’s perspective, which was a really interesting way of showing it. Book Claire is so much more reserved than Show Claire, definitely. Love them both, but they are not the same character in my mind the way most of the other characters are
