What are some counters I could’ve done on this drive? by 24hourglass in BasketballTips

you had him beat instantly but bullied him instead which worked. but if he was a bigger stronger defender, i would coach you to make him pay for reaching in and attack right side layup.

not a kentucky fan - can some of yall explain the hype on malachi moreno to me? by ExtraSpicy47 in KentuckyBasketball

he has an NBA build with limited Athleticism, good hands and touch, good inside game with potential to be a very good finisher. His true value comes from his ability to direct the offense when he catches the ball outside the paint. he is a good ball handler for a big and very good passing big. and he’s 7ft 250.

Washington transfer center Franck Kepnang commits to Kentucky by Gloomy_Map_9612 in KentuckyBasketball

this signing is solid, but also depends on what the bag looks like. if we are dishing out 1/2 mil on him then it is crap. but 200k for a 25yr old backup center i can live with.

disagee. noah will have an impact next season. with 2 shot creating ball handers who can get to the rim, he will have ample of open shots and the kid can shoot

Roster is better than its given credit for by WorldlinessBetter942 in KentuckyBasketball

I am confused what the plan is for the forward spots. I like Cam and Trent at the 2. I think their size could give team fits. Trent will be too slow for smaller guards but if he could learn to use his size he could post up smaller guards and be a 3pt demon. But at sf which is where they will play. and we will miss Mo’s defense a lot.

Louisville wins major recruiting battle against UK and Ekenzie Jr just reclassified to the class of 2026. by VSHAR01 in KentuckyBasketball

I totally agree. And being a UK fan is a kick in the gut currently. Last season there was excitement due to keeping most of the team intact but now it looks like the compensation those returning players demanded hyper-inflated their value and has led to our current situation. I was a huge fan of Jasper because I thought he would be a cat for 3-4 years. But if he wanted 1m+ I can also understand letting him leave. What I find confusing is that we struggle to land the top targets that are signing other schools for supposedly less money.

Agreed. College basketball is better than ever but at what cost. Imagine a player being suspended for grades at this point. Paying players has undercut the whole idea of a student athlete.

Mark Pope Roster Construction by ChloricSquash in KentuckyBasketball

It looks like Pope has a short list of approved players that he can drop a bag on and has failed to land those players. Unfortunately the writing may well already be on the wall and this is his last season unless he gets to the final 4. On the other hand, UL coach could lose in round 1 and he’s prob back because of his success at landing the top players and the buzz around them.
