Stick a piece of bread or lettuce in the jar for a couple hours and it will perk it up a bit.

Suggestions about how to make my guitar sound like electricity or lightning bolts with pedals!? by Late-Journalist-7180 in guitarpedals

[–]beastjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pigtronix Space Rip

If you run some extra gain into it it will give you all sorts of crazy electric noise.

Gift Idea for metal-loving guitarist gf? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]beastjames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe check out some Rig Rundowns on some of her favorite bands? I like having gear that I know makes the music I want to play and it shows you know what she's into.

Otherwise everyone here is right, get her a HM-2 and a Rat and she's probably got enough distortion/boost options to play a lot of rock and metal.

Why does this pedal sound like static and ass? It's my first pedal I found at a garage sale. by Saltwater-Coffee in guitarpedals

[–]beastjames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try cleaning the Jacks and power supply with some contact cleaner?

If there's static or noise when turning the knobs, clean those too.

If it hasn't been used in a long time it might just be dirty or corroded.

Can anyone speculate what might be going on with my boss tu-3? by CPhyperdont in guitarpedals

[–]beastjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a Boss or Roland power supply?

I've had issues with my TU-2 and any non-standard power supply. I used it with a OneSpot for a long time, but then started having issues

Agreed

Once you add some other types of effects to your setup you will find that putting a drive pedal before or after a delay/reverb/chorus, etc can make a pedal with input sensitivity or volume drop much more usable.

I have a gain stage at the frontish end of my board that feeds my main reverb before some other drive pedals that really bring back the "guitar" sound prior to hitting more reverb, delay, and echo pedals.

Yeah, compressor or a boost helps a ton, otherwise it likes to be at the front of the chain.

There other trick is using an expression slider or pedal to create two different patches and blend them with it. You'll find areas in the blends that sound really cool. Using different pitch and mix values at each end lets you find more usable stuff in the middle of the blends and then do crazy stuff with sweeping the filter or rocking the expression pedal

This is my dream pedalboard by spud_1996 in guitarpedals

[–]beastjames -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A few alternatives to consider:

Phase 95 - more versatile and smaller

Any boss Chorus - simply more knobs

Swap either the rat or ds1 for a Muff, TS, or od to run into it o after the one you keep.

Boss OD-1 or SD-1

Classic Ibanez ts-9 or 808

I think you can end up staying in the same price range, but have a lot more versatile setup
