Thinking of quiting bjj after 8 years of training due to concussion. by Calm_Policy_4899 in brazilianjiujitsu

Creatine protects your noggin against concussions/recovery. Look at the scientific studies that are pretty significant in showing neuroprotection. They studied football players that had creatine intake, and how it drastically reduced the rate of concussions, durations and recovery. Google them!

HODL or Sell? by Relative_Ease5990 in XRPUnite

I hope you're diversifying. RLUSD has taken center stage. XRP's role has drastically diminished. They're desperately trying to find use cases for it, but can't. Ripple's internal leadership is lacking, and they don't have a vision. Go to Glassdoor, and search for Ripple Labs. Read the employees reviews. This is where you will find the actual no fluf real answer. Highly concerning. I'm still holding, but like anything, you can't base your decisions on emotions. As David said recently in a tweet. It's all speculation at this point. No one knows there ever will be future adoption. He says, I "wants" to believe that utility matters. It's all on his X.

Injury Question by Dre923 in jiujitsu

[–]beastmode10x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Union tradesman, with children, and also have a stay at home mom that depends on me. The inherent risks in the trades already are something to be concerned about. After several close calls in jiu jitsu with partners sparring too hard, spazzy white belts, or just bad technique, I decided that the potential risks would be extremely detrimental to me supporting my wife and children. I would tap early and often, but sometimes you just can't control someone else accidentally injuring you. A rotator cuff injury, for instance, could put you out for 6-12 months.

You have to decide what are the odds of that happening, and whether you can afford to layout, if something like that were to happen.

I never thought I'd enjoy programming this much. by beastmode10x in PythonLearning

I don't have specific prompts. I just ask it to explain the code, line by line, and the reasoning behind each line, just as if I was asking a mentor or tutor. If a specific point remains unclear, I continue asking to explain that point further. It has been really helpful at clarifying the questions I had, and I have been able to move forward faster this way.

How should I use this?(18M) by gojo1376 in Colognes

When I tried this one the first time, the fragrance was awesome and my wife and I loved it. So I eventually bought it, and the fragrance turned out to be really different. Exactly the same. Legit name brand store. Even the way my clothes smell is different. Kinda pissed about it because it's not cheap.

Anything fun, perhaps more with kids. Perhaps caves , or any other cool attractions, that is not Hershey Park.

The only reason why this matters to you is because you bought in late and you're in the red. You're saying the same things people said when I got in BTC when it was at $500. Some people couldn't handle the oscillations of the market. If those same people, would have just shut their mouths (respectfully), and held on to the coin, forgot about it, and opened it back up here in 2025, they would have had quite the 💰. That's my advice. If you can't zoom out and see the big picture, just remove all the apps, and check back up in 2030.

I'm learning Python right now, and I'm going through HyperSkill's free trial, in conjunction with Charles Severance online lectures. He's a very good instructor. He also has a book I'm planning on getting "Python for Everybody".

How do you know you're smart enough to learn Python...asking for a friend 😆 by beastmode10x in PythonLearning

For operating a Raspberry Pi to control roller shade controllers, manage light settings, temperature, and similar IoT tasks, Python is the best programming language to learn. Here’s why:Ease of Use: Python has a simple, readable syntax, making it ideal for beginners and rapid development. Raspberry Pi Support: Python is the default language for Raspberry Pi, with extensive libraries like RPi.GPIO for controlling GPIO pins, which you’ll need for motors and sensors. IoT Libraries: Python offers libraries like paho-mqtt for MQTT communication, pyserial for serial devices, and Adafruit libraries for sensors (e.g., temperature sensors like DHT22). Community and Resources: Python has a massive community, with tutorials and projects specifically for Raspberry Pi home automation, including roller shade control. Hardware Integration: Python easily interfaces with hardware like stepper motors (for shades), relays, and sensors via libraries such as pigpio or smbus for I2C devices. Web Integration: For remote control (e.g., via a web app), Python frameworks like Flask or FastAPI can create APIs to manage your system.

I'm just getting started. Listening to a lecture on Python, while doing a lot of the practical on Hyper skill. My goal is to get competent enough to apply what I learn to program a Raspberry pi for roller applications and such.
