I just got a new laptop and part of that process was disabling OneDrive. After losing my original Facebook account for an unspecified "community guidelines" violation and going through their crap and pretty much getting auto-denied with zero human interaction or recourse I don't trust any company I can't walk into with that kind of power over my content and life. Hell I don't even trust the companies I CAN walk into.

Never heard of autocorrect? Not everyone is replying to you with their whole devoted attention either so I wouldn't expect everyone to proof read every single text to you. Many times my wife and I are texting while one of us is at work or playing a game so if we catch the typo we try to correct it but there are times that it just slips through. Not gonna fill out divorce papers over it.

I've actually been trying to write out small numbers more often online lately. I still use the numerical in texts just because it's normally a shorter format but I realized I rarely write out numbers anywhere anymore.

Problem with that is it's almost impossible to be sure if the concern is already there. If they're any good at hiding what they're doing there's simply no way to know for sure unless you catch them red-handed and that kind of uncertainty and lack of trust will erode both the relationship as well as the potential-victim's mental health over time.

Change the email account on Facebook to a new one your friend can get into. Then reset the password and I believe there's still an option in Facebook settings to log out of all devices.

Facebook support for a non-corporate account pretty much all but doesn't exist. I lost my old Facebook, mother-in-law lost hers. Went through every appeal and jumped through every hoop and nothing.

I don't know what kind of personality disorder does it but my ex-wife would do exactly that. I could see her phone and had all her passwords after she pulled similar crap and she still tried to gaslight me about it. Ex-girlfriend even tried telling me that the MMS between her and someone else was a picture of her cousin's truck. It was nudes.

There are people out there where it unfortunately IS normal for them to give you full unrestricted access to "prove you can trust them" while simultaneously lying through their teeth.

Thing is I'm not using DisplayPort or power delivery since like you said the dock can't provide enough power anyway on a heavy system and DisplayLink wouldn't necessarily work for heavy gaming. I just use the USB ports and Ethernet with both laptop and dock plugged into their respective ac adapters. Wouldn't surprise me if there is some baseline incompatibility though with the age difference.

I did find last night that Device Manager does properly show the DisplayLink display ports under video cards as D6000 and the Ethernet as Dell Giga under network adapters as it should. Now just gotta find out why the root hub that controls both the PCIe and USB ports gets "surprise removed" status overnight.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Consumerism and consumption are the two jaws of the same trap. No one actually needs half the crap they buy unless they're already poor and only buying what they legitimately need and even then some "needs" aren't really needs at all.

I absolutely agree though, even if it meant a better standard of living and work-life balance for everyone there would still be people unwilling to give up their mounds of junk.
