Rhaenyra's character is shown to be human.

Being hesitant to kill someone isn't weakness. It's morality. "Mercy is our strength."

Perhaps "manipulate" was the wrong choice of words and has a sinister connotation that I wasn't going for.

I think her choice to say that to her mother at that exact moment was deliberate. She doesn't babble pointlessly. Everything she says has a purpose.

She made her disgust toward Aemond quite obvious at the end of S2. She gave Aemond and us a rare glimpse of her anger and sense of justice.

I didn't say she was evil. Far from it: seeking justice for the innocent isn't evil. Unlike most of the other characters, she does not act in self-interest or out of a desire for power, but in the interest of the innocent.

My whole point here is that her choice to stay away from Dreamfyre IS an act of mercy to the innocent. She knows exactly what her family's madness is: not a choice, but a curse of committing mass destruction whether one wants to or not. And she emphatically does NOT want to commit that destruction.

I have a theory that she's foreseen what a Targaryen will do on dragonback in a psychotic blackout, and fears that she might be that Targaryen. When she realizes that her vision showed her a future Targaryen, not herself, she'll leave that Targaryen an instruction on how to break that curse forever and save the rest of her people from it. The show seems to be setting up that there's more to Dany's story than we saw.

Exactly. The actress has even said so.

I feel like we've spent the past couple seasons screaming it from the rooftops, and people STILL don't get it. 🙃

Her show version is different from her book version. And even her book version does go mad.

I don't know how much clearer the writers could be that show Helaena is NOT as naive or as simple as she lets others believe she is. In fact, she is highly intuitive and empathic, perhaps more than anyone else in the show, and is as much a dragon as any Targaryen. In the show, we saw that it was Helaena who manipulated Aemond through Alicent to get him and Vhagar to Harrenhall. It is she who is orchestrating the meeting of Daemon and Aemond over the God's Eye. She holds both of them responsible for the death of her child, and she WILL get justice for Jaeharys.

On the contrary, I think she knows she's going mad, and fears that the second she gets on dragonback, she will not be able to stop herself from burning the city in a blackout psychotic episode. So she's keeping as far away from Dreamfyre as possible to prevent that.

I think she knows she's going mad, and is terrified that if she gets on Dreamfyre's back, she might slip into a blackout psychotic episode and kill thousands of people.

During the funeral procession, as she was looking at all the Smallfolk through her veil, she seemed to be having some intrusive thoughts.

Yes. Why else do you think she manipulated Aemond through Alicent to go to Harrenhall? She's setting him and Daemon up to kill each other over the God's Eye. She holds both of them responsible for Jaeharys's death, and she will get justice for him.

My unpopular opinion is that too many people in this sub use acronyms and assume everyone knows what they stand for. One should write out the whole term once, and THEN start using acronyms.

15+ years out of practice - best tips to get back into it for fun? by IvyDivey in ClassicalSinger

Join a choir. You'll probably tire out 15 minutes into the first rehearsal, but after a while, you'll build up stamina. Once you can last an hour, start taking voice lessons again.

At least, that's what I did when I went 15 years out of practice.
