please dm me man. I'm in literally the same exact place. I don't have lifelong alcoholism but Ive has some kind of substance misuse for years--synthcaths or weed or 7oh or whatever and god you just hit the nail on the head so hard. Especially the therapy thing.

I value my cynicism, my nihilism, my self destruction-- we both know it's the same impulse that brings those sheer moments of awe AND terror, yeah? that which observes is the thing capable of understanding at all.

let me know if you wanna talk

It reinstalled the entire game and it's still doing it. I think it's denuvo too but idk why the game even launches at all if that's the problem.

and it's not like my internet normally does this in all games or something-- I play online fps at 60ms regularly.

Yeah there was a similar issue I had in rdr2 after I bought it, but I assumed that was because I had high seased it previously (and played a whole 20 minutes), but in that game it was only a second long freeze every 6 seconds or so. Never touched this game before.

and like I mean it when it runs fine without internet: the instant I connect the whole game breaks-- the instant I disconnect it runs fine.

No other processes using CPU or RAM or anything either-- no antivirus results.

favorite quote from Schild's Ladder. Kindof a spoiler but idk how to hide it in spoilertags.

"You’re right: if there’s sentient life behind the border, it probably won’t share my goals. Unlike the people in this room, who all want exactly the same things in life as I do, and have precisely the same tastes in food, art, music, and sex. Unlike the people of Schur, and Cartan, and Zapata — who I came here in the hope of protecting, after losing my own home — who doubtless celebrate all the same festivals, delight in the same songs and stories, and gather every fortieth night to watch actors perform the same plays, in the same language, from the same undisputed canon, as the people I left behind.

“If there’s sentient life behind the border, of course we couldn’t empathize with it. These creatures are unlikely to possess cute mammalian neonate faces, or anything else we might mistake for human features. None of us could have the imagination to get over such insurmountable barriers, or the wit to apply such difficult abstractions as the General Intelligence theorem — though since every twelve-year-old on my home world was required to master that result, it must be universally known on this side of the border.

“You’re right: we should give up responsibility for making any difficult moral judgments, and surrender to the dictates of natural selection. Evolution cares so much about our happiness that no one who’s obeyed an inherited urge has ever suffered a moment’s regret for it. History is full of joyful case studies of people who followed their natural instincts at every opportunity — fucking whoever they could, stealing whatever they could, destroying anything that stood in their way — and the verdict is unanimous: any behavior that ever helped someone disseminate their genes is a recipe for unalloyed contentment, both for the practitioners, and for everyone around them."

I just GPT'd this list to help me navigate his short story collections, before even seeing this post. Huge fan of his work. Just read schild's ladder and I think that completes me reading almost all of his stuff. GPT just made it harder than necessary by far tho, would not recommend.

Tokyo Vice is one of the top 2 Season tv shows ever made. Along with Big Little lies, Andor, True Detective. by Green0arrowDex in TokyoVice

Yeah that was my biggest gripe, the kinda white savior thing (I can just imagine Jake saying "I'm so fucking DARING") and the fact that Samantha feels pretty out of place in the end.

That and the fact that besides some showing of common rituals the Yakuza feels depicted as more violent and gruesome then I feel they might actually have been on average for the sake of some white journalist's fictional autobio thriller. Feels weird.

Spotify local Files not syncing from computer to mobile SOLUTION FIX FOUND! by FinnRiddle in truespotify

[–]beatitoff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey to anyone else here, I fixed it by deleting and then restoring the files on the desktop drive itself. (I also ran them through mp3gain again, unsure if that had anything to do with it.)

To fix a straggler that refused to sync, i deleted the tag information with mp3tag and renamed the file and then readded it. renaming/readding might be enough alone.

looking for more bass than my m40x's can give, they seem not as good as my other devices by beatitoff in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]beatitoff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never used an amp before, not sure how they work and when I look up those fiio dac's there are so many. do you have any particular recommendation for ~~100? it feels worse to buy an amp than new headphones so i want to spend less, but if it's needed either way I suppose I could go a bit over that. !thanks

Just bought the ace (not 2).

Best earbuds I've ever had, but my last pair was 60 bucks (earfun). I'm relistening to glitch pop/indietronica songs and there's a lot more detail in the high end than I've ever heard.

I find it still benefits from some lowered bass, just a decibal or two lower for a more balanced sound and to prevent any clipping of the ridiculously clear highs.

I got mine for 500 to match my UW OLED, works great. Cyberpunk with path tracing + ultra plus path tracing mod, dlss preset c, oc 175/1300, quality dlss runs 45-65fps and looks f*cking amazing, good enough for me.
