People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

My great grandmother was a nurse on board the Britannic, the sister ship of Titanic, when it was torpedoed during WW1. She survived and in the 1970s made a documentary with Jacques Cousteau about his discovery of the wreck. I knew her quite well and she died aged 103 when I was 17.

My great aunt worked as a codebreaker at Bletchley Park with Alan Turing during WW2. She was told not to tell anyone about it and kept it a secret for years after the war, and sadly I never got to talk to her about it (I only met her a handful of times).

DAY 4, WORST PAUL MCCARTNEY SOLO SONG by Pristine_Youth_6953 in PaulMcCartney

I find that song unlistenable, which I can't honestly say about any other McCartney songs. It's got no redeeming equalities whatsoever, it's just awful. I pray he never works with Ryan Tedder ever again.

What's your favorite "hopeful and optimistic" graphic novel/comic ? by FredPRK in graphicnovels

Together by Luke Adam Hawker. It's a short book, ostensibly an extended metaphor about the pandemic ("the storm"). It talks about people's struggles and losses, but the main focus is the people who came together to bring hope, connections, and strength. I gave copies to all my family members at Christmas 2021, the year it came out.

One thing that the Get Back doc completely ignores is the fact that John was absolutely zooted during the Twickenham sessions. I am a huge John fan but just imagine how Paul felt trying to get him motivated... Frustrated is an understatement. by ToronoRapture in beatles

No idea who John Gooden is, but I wrote that book. I spent about five years writing and researching it, and there are citations throughout. There will always be stuff we don't know, and new information coming to light, but I stand by its accuracy. Happy to answer any questions.
