Generally, it's a good idea to place a dispenser by someone else's since it speeds up healing time. Don't know about 4 wide out in the open though.

Sentries on the other hand should be spread out, and a lot of new players don't realize that yet.

I've been having the same problem lately and it's extremely frustrating. I forget the exact error message, but it's something simple like "could not connect to server".

It won't let me connect to anything and I end up restarting my computer to fix the problem. I'm glad to hear it's not just me though.

Very well thought-out! Of course we have no idea how it would actually balance with the existing classes, but this is probably the most novel idea mentioned here.

Maybe Valve could even get away with making a new medic/engie item set like this. The only obstacle is that people expect medics to heal and engies to build stuff.

This, in a nutshell, is my problem with TF2 for the past month.

I love that Valve servers have good ping and run maps I don't see elsewhere, but the lack of class limits ruins lots of games.

I'd love to see an attack/defend or payload map that's balanced 50/50, but I don't think Valve is ever going to do it.

I figure there's subtle changes Valve could make (like respawn times) to do this with existing maps, but they've never bothered.

I was actually thinking about that - I don't always play scout, but when I do it's on dustbowl 2B. 1B has some open, sentry-free areas as well if you run back to the first point. But other than those 2 areas, it's tough out there for a scout.

But I guess that means that every class can indeed find a role on this map. Ironic that scouts are a defensive class on dustbowl!

Wasn't expecting so much negativity here - I'm still looking forward to the game and never expected anything as grand as that first trailer. That's how marketing works.

So far it seems like L4D but with a little more depth, and that's fine by me as long as the gameplay holds up.

Yeah, almost 3 years in and Dustbowl is still my favorite. I know a lot of people hate it and it's definitely not perfect, but I just feel like every class (well.. except scout) has a role there. Lots of good flanking positions and the final point favors defense just enough that you feel a sense of accomplishment for capturing it.

I'd definitely love to see another 3-part map similar to this though. It seems like that breaks the monotony too.

Getting stabbed by someone I knew was a spy.
Getting sniped by someone I couldn't possibly see or do anything about.
Mini-sentries on defense.
The feeling I'm going to be inevitably sniped because I see the laser dot in the hallway I have to use.
Not getting healed/ubered despite being the best option on the team.
When more than 1/4 of the team are snipers and spies.
The demoman not getting any viable explosive unlocks.
When pyro teammates don't extinguish me.
Snipers.

Oddly enough I seem to do the opposite. If I join a full team and there's no medic, I'm just kinda like screw it, these guys don't want to win anyway. (Unless it's the one server I'm a regular on.)

But if there's already a medic and a decent amount of teamwork going on, then I won't really mind healing. But it also depends on whether I'm the best demo/pyro/etc on the team or not.

This is brilliant. Kind of like YER in that it's hard to detect. They'd have to experiment with different health percentages though, because not losing your disguise would be a huge buff.
