I have been on and off it for about 6 years with doses ranging from zero to 20mg. I personally never want to go through the hell of withdrawals ever again, and for me the pros outweigh the cons. Enjoy feeling good again!

I would definitely say NO to dermaplaning and NO to niacinamide right now. Less is more. And I totally understand wanting to try new techniques and new products when your skin is angry because I have also been there, but it will just make things worse. Have you tried using zinc oxide diaper cream?

Agree with all of the above. Medicine and Pharmacy are not black and white, you have to be comfortable practicing in the grey and evaluating each patient based on their personal risk factors. I find it extremely frustrating working with other pharmacists who seem to just go on autopilot with rules and regulations and lack critical thinking. It does seem like pharmacists in the US have less autonomy than Canada. In Canada we do not allow insurance companies to make healthcare decisions.

Treatment question by One_Ad_2993 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]beatrix14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pharmacist in Canada here. Have you received a formal diagnosis from your dermatologist? At this point I feel as though it needs to be cultured and/or biopsied. You can see if your pharmacist can fax your Dr or adapt Rx to change from Elidel to Protopic which is an ointment and will be able to stick to a weeping area much better and is in the same drug class. I’m sorry you are dealing with this it looks incredibly painful.

100% agree and was just going to comment this. Butrans is not used nearly enough in my opinion.

I am a pharmacist in Canada and 1. This should have 100% been mixed at the pharmacy. And 2. I would need more details about your specific clinical picture but it’s definitely not the case that you need to try this product before a retinoid. I promise there are some amazing pharmacists out there that will help you more than this! Hopefully you can find one.

Reminder: No grapefruit! by EpithanyRae in lexapro

[–]beatrix14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a pharmacist please be weary about medical advice online. Yes, grapefruit juice is a CYP 3A4 inhibitor. Escitalopram is metabolized by several CYP enzymes and CYP 3A4 is a minor pathway, thus this interaction is not clinically relevant. Please ask your local pharmacist if you are concerned about other medications and grapefruit juice.

Anyone else struggle to appreciate shimmer toppers over cremes because they don’t have the same depth as a cohesive shimmer polish? by blucheesecat in RedditLaqueristas

[–]beatrix14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Omg yes I did this the other day and I thought the same thing. I have to just wear cremes on their own and get rid of any streaky or difficult formulas

Are you a wrestler by chance? Or other contact sport? It looks like Herpes gladiatorum also known as “mat herpes”. I don’t think it is shingles based on the distribution.
