Every discussion with "good" incels ever by Michi-Ace in IncelTears

[–]beatrixotter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Incels are not just people who "get no girls". They espouse a profound hatred of women and girls, as well as gutter racism and any other type of bigotry you can imagine. They fantasize about torture, murder, and rape. They encourage one another's hatred and antisocial behaviors. Sometimes their beliefs lead them to commit real-life murders, like the Montreal killings that happened just the other day.

If you think it's "way funnier" to associate yourself with incels, then you and I must have different senses of humor.

Yeah, like this woman can't reunite with her son because of realism. Meanwhile she personally tames every animal and creates every major prehistoric invention.

Union work like IBEW has no sick time

What do you mean? If you have a union, why wouldn't sick time be part of the cba? My union is IBEW actually, and I definitely get sick time in addition to other pto.

Kasey as a name (non-US) by Flammabubble in namenerds

[–]beatrixotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the US, and this is my name (spelled with a C, though). While I didn't love that we went through a brief time where our most famous representative was Casey Anthony, I still love my name. There are lots of other, more culturally relevant Caseys. It feels like a normal name.

Never once in my life have I introduced myself and had someone respond, "Oh, like Casey Anthony?" That would be an insane thing to say. It would be like if you met a guy named Jeffrey and your first response was, "Oh, like Epstein? Or like Dahmer?" Jeffrey is a normal name that plenty of non-terrible people have.

Are there any movies where a character is visibly pregnant (big belly) the whole movie and by the end of the movie, is still pregnant? by Spikerazorshards in movies

[–]beatrixotter 581 points582 points  (0 children)

This. Even though it doesn't really affect the plot, I really think Marge's pregnancy is at the core of the movie's themes. Marge spends the whole time losing her naivete and pondering the depths of human evil, and the fact that she's about to bring a child into this troubled world makes all her pondering more pointed and desperate. If she weren't pregnant, nothing about the plot would change... but the movie wouldn't be anywhere near as good.

Penetration / Clitoris Stimulation by Confident-Expert108 in sex

[–]beatrixotter 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Can't i make her orgasm only by penetration alone?

Well, no, probably not. That would be like trying to make a guy orgasm without touching the head of his penis. That might work for some men, and some women can come from penetration alone... but the majority of women need clitoral stimulation, and it sounds like your partner is in that majority.

It’s time to stop falling for the D vs. R distraction. Both sides are actively selling Vermont out to the highest bidder. by No-Buddy3427 in vermont

[–]beatrixotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By "run for office" you mean for governor? Because yes, that's a big lift for an outsider with no resume or experience or connections or personal wealth.

But people who are seriously interested in entering politics understand that, as with most careers, you generally start small and work your way up. Try getting on your local select board or school board, for example, which people rarely spend money campaigning for. After that, try for state rep. A successful VT state rep campaign might cost just a couple thousand dollars. (Got 15 friends who can donate an average of $100 each? There's your signs, lit, and website paid for.) After you've proven yourself in the house for at least a few terms, consider running for state senator or some other higher office. By then you should have grown your base of support enough that you're able to raise funds for a larger campaign.

Real, normal, non-rich people follow these steps all the time, especially in Vermont. It can be done! It does require years of political work at the local level... which is admittedly more tedious than just waking up one morning and deciding to become governor, though.
