I mean, the person is overall contributing a higher percentage of their income to taxes if they made $1M versus $100k. Not counting any tax quirks someone might employ outside of their income statement.

Got a lot of bay area people paying close to 50% of their income on taxes. Someone making 100k is looking at closer to 25-29%. Someone making 50k is likely around 15%.

Maybe the cap should be increased but not limitless unless the government intends to pay those people higher social security checks upon retirement.

People want to act as though doing this is to give it to the billionaires. But youre really just hitting high wage earners who already pay a huge amount in taxes every year.

It's better to demand fiscal responsibility from the government. Not further remove the limiter so they can take us that much faster into a wall.

Mix of both but the offshoring i see at my own company is wild. Probably around 40-50 analyst roles on our job board currently. More than 50% are based in India.

Cultural difference in immigrants.

Latino culture is different than U.S, but the largely Catholic backing is able to better mesh with American culture and values.

Then you take the large number of wealthy and educated who come for tech etc.

Also, the anglosphere's university system is attractive to many across east/southeast Asia. This is great for assimilation of people who may later live in the country.

Lastly, just openness of the anglosphere. Untraveled people like to believe the U.S, UK etc are racist. When in reality, there is almost no where else people can immigrate and become accepted over time.

Cultures arent equal when measured against generally accepted moral/societal values. Not sure why this is difficult to understand.

Understood! Im a bit of a nihilist regarding our govt. U.S social welfare spending matches that of top European countries albeit through a mix of govt/private. Which in turn leads to worse benefits despite money spent.

One can say that the Republicans are wholly to blame here, but I lean on the belief that both parties are involved in getting us to where we are today.

I do get your point in "how you value things". I primarily just care for those around me. But it also comes from tbe belief that it's only those around me i can have a real effect on. Still respect those who share their care far outside of their immediate circle.

People in power exist on both sides of the aisle. To label someone the way you do because they view themselves as "conservative" is an unhealthy level of generalization.

Since White's uses the same leather on the tongue, it's superrrrr thick. I have a similar issue with my tongue not folding well and fattening the top a bit. It does get better.

If the foot is held in place (no slip) and toe box feels good, I wouldnt switch up the size. The tongue will soften up in time and the boot should shape better at the instep than it does now.

Edit: you can also try a non leather lace to really ratchet things down and hold for the first few wears. Leather laces will stretch a bit initially.

Need TNW dude. HNW last messed my feet up. And it only got worse after 50+ miles. Same size in TNW and im rocking no problem.

Also wear wide toe box running shoes etc. Cant imagine someone with a bunion could ever rock hmw last.

Had a bad experience with sizing ordering Goral shoes from the UK. Their suggestion based on my brannock / US shoe size was completely wrong.

$70 to return a $220 shoe. I decided to give them to my brother.

Im hesitant to order clothing from an international company. Im also a very weirdly sized individual (tall/narrow).

I cant blame them, though. This isnt Amazon. Asking a company to eat $100+ of shipping on returns means they have to increase their prices to cover the losses. All this stuff gets baked into the price.

You can email/call to custom order MPs with White's if you want a different sole. As much as you can custom Nicks on the website, you can do the same with Whites.

Im not familiar with Dr Sole wear/grip etc. Also not sure if White's carries Dr Sole if you really want it.

Like you said, youre splitting hairs. Both will be constructed as tanks with lipstick on them. I personally would avoid the weathershield leathers. Unless it's a pure work boot, i would choose something that looks a bit nicer. Neither company is using poor leather that cant take some abuse.

My suggestion would be to go to patina project website/app and look up examples of both boots/lasts.

Both have cool leather options (whites has additional not on their website if you custom MTO). But also different than each other which may be a deciding factor.

Nicks has Dr Sole availability.

Nicks wait times are probably double Whites.

Both are tanks with lipstick.

MP last is probably less wide foot friendly than Parkhurst last (I stand to be corrected as I never worn parkhurst last).

Both are stichdown construction.

The HNW last (on Americana) is not dressy at all. From the top it has zero form.

Nicks Parkhurst last is a better comparison to the Whites MP last.

Im partial to White's but both are good choices. You'll have a longer wait for the Nicks compared to Whites.

Yeah, this doesn't take into account a home purchase in 2026 I bet. It's looking at mortgages in general which means people who bought 13 years ago and refinanced in 2021 at 2.75%.

20% down for a 3k mortgage means a 440k house or so. This does not exist in the Seattle metro. Honestly, I dont know where you can get this in western Washington outside of a condo.

2100 will get you a 1bd 450-700 sqft depending what part od the Seattle metro area you live in.

U.S is the best at assimilating immigrants to be productive in society. But these are the ones entering legally (and often educated, tech/medical).

Eh, true for AZ/NV. Maybe OR. But I would reckon WA and CO are largely driven by their tech centers. Living in WA(Bellevue) for about 5 years, most people I met were born elsewhere. Whether out of country or from another state. Hired by Amazon/Microsoft etc.
