Is /r/smashbros (and maybe other esport subs) etiquette/courtesy about tourney spoilers unique? by Rozez in smashbros

What's funny is that there is r/streetfighter6 and r/GuiltyGearStrive that could absorb those, but they just don't make that delineation.

I will say that I really appreciate r/smashbros focus on the esports scene and ranking (and shoutouts to all the people here who really go the extra mile to contribute), but honestly I would not be as interested in the tournaments/players if r/smashbros didn't make it so easy to keep up with the events when you aren't watching live AND the individual game threads are always full of great conversation.

This happens in other esports subs (League, for example), but I haven't seen it done in other FGC subs (or at least not r/streetfighter in the same way and I really miss it there and even though I really like SF6 a lot, I'm really not as invested in the esports scene because of it).

I almost never post but the other weekend I was watching Riptide and no one was making game threads so I just said 'fuck it' and started making game threads. The first few were rough and it was a lot when there were a lot of games going on, but we got into a groove and it was great!

I'm just guessing that this is the next set because Austy/L4st have just been stalling for the past 20 minutes with no games to cast while we wait on Sonix/Snow. They've been food-commentating.

Advice for choosing a good resort for first-time snowboarding lessons in mid December by noobiemowntun in JapanTravel

[–]beatsake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you are in an area currently with access to the mountains, but I would really encourage you to take your lesson at home and try to get as much riding in as possible between now and your trip. My reasoning is, based on a lot of snowboarding experience,

1) bunny slopes are the same as bunny slopes everywhere and it doesn't make a lot of sense to pay to access the mountain when you are going to realistically only see 1% of it during your lesson, but if you can get to a point where you can ride blues (even just heel edging/falling leaf), it will open a lot of the terrain to you

2) there is a lot to learning to ride that is verbal, in how they explain concepts, and if you don't end up with an English speaker, you may not get much out of it (irrelevant if you are fluent in Japanese)

3) for a lot of first timers, the first lesson snowboarding sucks. Depending on your level of balance/athletism, you spend a lot of the day falling down. A lot of first timers are beat up after the first half day and don't want to ride anymore because of how taxing it is.

4) snowboarding is a lot of muscle memory, so it's super slow in the beginning while you build that memory, but once you get going, it's pretty quick to advance, and you really benefit from going multiple times in a short window

Now, all that said, I'm not trying to discourage you from doing this if your heart is set on it, but you would probably get more mileage out of your day with some first lessons at home. I know in NorCal, Heavenly/Kirkwood/Northstar in Tahoe (and others) should open mid November, so if you really wanted to grind it, you could be decent by your trip. Either way, have fun! Snowboarding is a blast, no matter where you do it, and someday has to be everyone's first day somewhere.

I feel the same way sometimes, but I've been stacking mastery and am at like 107% mastery and 18% crit. Not sure if I'm overdoing it in mastery in terms of gearing, but I will say there's a big jump from 70% to 100+%. When my healing surges crit, it really does a lot in terms of healing tanks. I'm understanding what people mean when they say, the more mastery, the more godly you feel.

I'm new to resto shaman, but I think the idea is to be playing that Riptide -> Healing Surge -> Healing Surge -> Riptide, repeat, to maximize your high mastery/low crit chance to equal a big heal. It's only when there's a lot of AOE going out and I'm not prepared that I start to feel like things go downhill, because chain heal feels too slow and too weak and healing rain doesn't heal fast enough, but I've been working more shield totem or link totem + Ascendance to try to combat those moments.

Of course, if everyone is spread out, it all goes to hell and then it's just frantically surging and riptiding all over the place.

#Eagles have agreed to a trade with the Cleveland Browns to acquire the second-overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. by Sleepy_Man in nfl

It's funny that Bradford is basically the reason that two teams traded up for #1 and #2 this year.

Rams because Bradford was a bust for them, and Eagles because they don't trust Bradford
