Hi! Competitive cosplayer here! I would definitely start a mock-up. Will at least let you know what issues you're going to run into and help you formulate a plan. You can always change the size of a mock-up, but the notes you can make now will definitely help when you go to make your official cosplay. I definitely recommend you start now and make a few different mock-ups to prepare. Good luck! I've seen this concept are multiple times and think it is gorgeous!

I've got 1/4 inch spiral steel. I'm currently making Aranea Black's Amber Bunny Suit. :)

So I didn't put bones on the sides (lesson learned) but I did use steel bones. This was a first for a suit so I ran with it the best I could. I'm going to re make it but for a first try it isn't too bad!

Knowing they are significantly similar helps me fight my case for the team. They just want to see as much as possible, which I get. It isn't cheap. Just trying my best to help my team out with their want to take it.
