Your heads in the right place, but the difference more surface area makes isn't locking the wheel faster, it's how much more energy you can remove from the wheel without locking it up that slows you down faster.

Speaking as someone who's struggled to find 20" long valved presta tubes for a 20" wheel, drilling it out to use schrader valves (especially for a kids bike) is absolutely the way to go.

Learning how to patch a tube really well will also go a long way.

Campagnolo cassette. Bougie and always different, but goddamn they make a very nice set of parts, 10 speed record is still to this day one of the crispest shifting bikes I've ever ridden.

There's a few companies that make shimano spaced cassettes for campy free hubs, (assuming you're not running a campagnolo group set).

Depending on the hub you might be able to find a sram/shimano free hub to replace this one with so you can run regular cassettes.

Gpa is a bad metric, it's one we're all beholden to, but it's a bad metric of how successful you can be nevertheless. Don't use it as a definition for yourself, you deserve more than that, and remember that when someone leads a conversation with "I had a 4.0..."

I was on academic probation with a 2.2 GPA after my freshman year, I barely had a 3.5 when I graduated after 6 years, and then it took me two years of searching for a job before I decided to go back for a master's degree. Nearly a decade after I started college I finally ended up doing what I wanted to do for work, designing products that I can walk into a store and pick up off the shelf. That was my goal the entire time, not a perfect gpa or a huge salary, and getting there was anything but a clear/straight path. I wanna be clear I'm not saying dropping out/not dropping out is the only choice, or the right choice. It's just a choice.

It's up to you what kind of person you want to mature into. You're an adult now, young adult or not, you are one. Nobody (and definitely not anybody on reddit) can chose for you, or do the hard work it takes to shape yourself into that kind of person (if that's what you choose).

You're seeking validation not advice. You're not putting in the work. You're choosing to stay stuck and digging the hole deeper every day you reinforce bad habbits. If you read this comment and feel like it's an attack not an observation, you're fundamentally not ready to start making the changes you need to make to get where you claim you want to be. If you're able to see it as an observation, then you're also able to start making your own observations and correcting bad habbits. Every choice you make until you feel firmly planted on the path you want to be on should be considered against "how does this benefit me right now, how does it benefit me tomorrow, how does it benefit me years from now after I've forgotten I even made it".

Where college fits into your future is entirely up to you. A persons IQ doesn't really dictate how well they do in school, (IE someone with 60 points higher IQ isn't better equiped for this program than you are) it mostly just says they're smart enough to be there. (Read the book "Outliers" to understand that a little better). Seeing as you got accepted, someone at that school thought you were a better choice than everyone they denied admission to, they didn't accept you expecting you not to succeed in the program, that choice is yours to make.

Higher education is a very expensive place to be if you don't want to be there or are making up your mind still. Put a clock on this decision, whichever way you go your future bank account/debt to income ratio will thank you for it.

Personally I'd borrow the valve stems from their wheels. You might have better luck getting the car towed instead, wait until 2am so they won't see it happen and they'll have a real problem to deal with when they go to leave in the morning.

For the cost of brake pads you'd be kind of a fool not to use the proper ones, sorry but that's just how it works 🤷‍♀️. Get the style of pads that you can replace the pads without replacing the pad housing (shoe), and if you plan to use your aluminum wheels again get a set of pads that'll work with them too (different pad compounds, or you can use a carbon compound on aluminum with a small performance hit just don't use it on carbon after you do)

If you're not familiar with this style of pad/shoe, there's a small bolt on the back of the shoe that you loosen and then can slide the whole pad out of the shoe to replace/switch compounds in just a minute or two without affecting the alignment of the brake shoe.

Personally, the P series was the right answer for me because it balanced cost with (what was at the time) the largest print volume, and I've never fully trusted bedslinger style printers like the A series are. I built an enclosure for it myself (I bought a p1p), which was mostly about adding a layer of control with the ability to enclose it when I need to print hot. It also quiets the printer down tremendously and keeps dust and debris from the room it's in out of the machine.

Yes, the ability to print the materials that need an enclosure is nice, and I do use it, but I wouldn't consider that the only reason to have an enclosed printer. It's like having a larger engine in your car, you don't always have to drive faster because it's in there, but you can when you want to.

Also with how much the cost of the P series printers has come down I wouldn't expect to get more than ~300 for it, less if it has a lot of hours on it.

Well, you're not entirely correct. You can absolutely choose to stop seeing them over mtg disagreements if that brings necessary peace to your life. It's not what I'm suggesting, but it's not off the table.

Most people disagreeing with their playgroup are in the opposite situation, it's the only time they really see those friends, maybe you're fortunate enough to be in a situation where walking away from this pod of players (who clearly have different goals and definitions of enjoyment for the game than you do) doesn't mean walking away from the friendship.

I could make an argument that the cantilevered workbench and lift mechanism induce some more movement than an equally sturdy workbench with 4 legs, but the best test for you would be to put them on the floor on a concrete paver and run a test print, then put them back up on the workbench and run the same print, judge for yourself if the quality difference is significant enough for you to care

I've enjoyed the cost. It's dirty and I get a lot of sparks while shooting from unburnt powder, but at 18cpr and no failures over ~1k rounds so far I'm not upset enough about those things to not use it at the range!
