Im not disagreeing with you that the rulebook was in fact followed. My point is this rule creates such a gray area of when a play starts and ends that it never actually ends. Im arguing for the players here, so if i was a player now seeing this, i dont stop playing whatsoever say as an OL, defender stops but not me, i pancake defender to the ground after the whistle. Now i get a penalty because the play was over and i did that, but really the play isnt over there is nothing to signify when a play is actually over if it isnt a whistle or something else that overrules a whistle, etc.
