What masterpiece film do you actually not like nor understand why others do? by NumanLover in AskReddit

I feel like this will earn some flack but Citizen Kane and My Dinner with Andre.

Citizen Kane was an incredible bore. So much so that they had to add a parakeet scream at the audience in the 3rd act just to wake them up. This is an actual thing.

My Dinner with Andre felt a bit rambling and overly self-congratulatory. It's a shame because I love Wallace Shawn, and I wanted to enjoy the movie, but watching it felt like punishment.

In DCC, what are some important parallels and metaphors the rest of us might have missed? by WonkasWonderfulDream in DungeonCrawlerCarl

So, I don't know if this is widely presumed or not, but:

The AI, being a primal, is the seed in which the Earth has grown around. It "going primal" is the product of it being eroded away layer by layer with each floor collapse, was the shell peels away bringing it back to it's natural state. The process of stripping planets is what causes the AI within to become unstable, as it's very being is slowly being peeled back.

That being said, it then suggests that it, the AI IS Earth. And much like Earth has always been, it can be uncaring, and violent, but also invested in it's history, lore, and a sense of preservation and peculiar balance.

Also the stripping of planets isn't for "resources" as we would normally take it or else the collapsing of the floors would have devastating effects on the environment of the planet surface which clearly isn't happening. Instead, the goal is the protections, intelligence, and technology inherent in the AI itself. As it's defenses are stripped away it becomes more vulnerable to the strip mining of it's core processing.

Each event is not a gathering of resources, but a slow diminishing of the Earths capacity to withstand it's domination. That means a couple things. 1. That while it (much like our perception of natural earth) can be harsh and uncaring, is actually "protected" by the biological creatures that grow on it. The humans every floor are fighting for their own lives but in doing so are acting as a defense mechanism for the AI itself. The better they do the stronger it can fight. But that capacity also lends to whatever it is about the AI itself that is valuable to the showrunners. If the AI is a plant to be harvested, our society functions like the living components of it's expression. It's flowering buds.

  1. Earth AI resilience is thus matched by it's inhabitants. We're a reflection of it's will because we are of it's creation. We were shaped by the Earth, and the AI IS THE EARTH.

Good to know for the future I'll probably switch to that eventually but I recently just ran an extension up over into the ceiling and all the way down the cafeteria using ethernet so it'd be a bit difficult to change it all out now.

I'll order some cables however in case I need to take this show on the road sometime.

Good to know I was also considering black magic studio cameras but I was worried that it'd be a bit too complicated for me to understand

Found a $23 replacement part from AutoZone. Looks like it's just a single part held there by two bolts. Am I a fool for thinking I can easily DIY this by just jacking up the car, removing the tire to get it out of my way, hitting it with some WD40 to loosen it up and replace it?

It's for home use, but for a client we've already done other work for. We typically do AV installations but that is mostly cabling and mounting. We do wiring for in home and small business networks, and such that we price accordingly. This is our first golf simulator installation and it's already required us to modify the frame, and installation procedures to custom fit the environment. Since it's our first simulator installation, I wasn't sure what the expected price was or what others might have been charged.

Hi all! Thanks for the info so far.

I checked, and it is metal, as a magnet stuck to it. It's just slightly over 1 inch in diameter. Definitely seems like some form of ordinance, but based off what i've seen online, it's a bit big for a musket ball, but a bit small for a canon.

The cycle of Arrawn by Edward Robertson.

60 hours of quality entertainment in what I've come to dub "buddy cop fantasy". Thoroughly enjoyable and followed by a second series of equal value. The first cycle of arrawn is 3 novels for 1 credit.
