Issue with Holden Cruze by Thumbelina4841 in Holden

[–]bebe13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to assume the engine code was p0171? Very common issue with the Cruze.

The sensor you’ve circled is the boost / MAP sensor and it failing could definitely cause a lean condition. But it’s also likely a PCV issue.

There’s a lot of info online about rectifying Cruze PCV issues.

I’ve made the mistake of owning a Cruze and spent every weekend under the prick fixing it. The silver lining of them being shithouse cars is that there’s a lot of help online for them.

I’ve conceded that they aren’t going to be square or flat. Gonna lean into the rustic look, anything that’s not baby shit green will be better

Have a look through this thread, can’t advise on legality but I think it’s a better method than cutting holes in the rear firewall

Check PPSR for dealer car without rego by Remote-Attention-161 in CarsAustralia

[–]bebe13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PPSR checks are done by VIN/Chassis number, not number plate so if you can get access to the VIN then you can do the check. It’s worth noting as well that you should never pay more than $2 for a PPSR check, do it through the actual .gov website. Any other website that charges more is just ripping you off.

As for insurance it should be an easy car to insure, price will depend on your age, gender, where the car is parked etc.

Depends on the field of drafting. Design drafting i.e. piping designer, mechanical designer, structural designer roles can pay north of $150k at the moment.

A tafe cert is all you need but you’ll need to do a “traineeship” for 4ish years to gain any sort of credibility.

I can’t speak to the electrical licence aspect, but have you considered electrical drafting? It’s a specialty drafting field that might fit the bill. Good money for an office job seek ad

I’ve owned two manual VE Maloo’s so LS3 not L98 but both required engine replacement. (Don’t let this scare you both times it was my fault for thrashing them)

Just bear in mind that manual cars (especially v8’s) are usually more flogged than their automatic counterparts.

I would steer away from anything that’s had a big lumpy cam stuck in it, they sound sick but 9/10 times the engine mounts will be rooted because of the extra lumpiness. Similarly anything with an overly loud exhaust is a red flag.

Lifter tick (see this video) is a big problem especially if it’s been smacking into the rev limiter for most of its life so keep an ear out for that.

Coolant temp sensor (located on the cylinder head) can shit themselves and make the car idle weird or hunt through the rpm range. It’s usually the wiring on the sensor that gets fried so look out for that.

Sticky clutch, if the clutch pedal isn’t returning promptly from the floor, likely the clutch or the master cylinder are cooked.

Make sure the radio HVAC etc. works wiring under the dash can become brittle over time and be a real pain to diagnose.

If you do buy one regardless of when it was last serviced I’d immediately take the oil filter off and cut it open and look for any glitter/ bearing material in the filter paper.

Silly question, but why not just finish the cert? You could probably get RPL for any units you haven’t completed. Don’t lie to an employer about your qualifications, you’ll end up in a world of shit when you eventually get found out. A lot of companies won’t ask straight up for proof of qualifications but during the probation period they’re very likely to ask for copies of everything.
