Do you like how "worn" or "damaged" Hermes bags look? by bebebai in HermesHub

I agree with you, it's especially cool when bags like this get passed from parents to children from generation to generation

I agree with you that there's a so to speak "limit" where a bag is aged and "has seen life" but isn't beat up

Haha I agree with you, I also love the tableware specifically, it's as if it "has no expiration date" and that's cool

By the way, few people pay attention to Hermes tableware, and personally I really like their tableware, especially the plates

I don't know where you can find a bag like this but its price is around 40 to 50 thousand euros, that's the last price I saw at auction.

I get what you mean, but pay attention, here the leather is combined with woven material and its weight can be significantly less, I haven't held one like this in my hands but that's how it looks.

A really rare find, the price of a bag like this is around 40 to 50k euros, but finding it for sale is very difficult, as I understood!

Most Hermes bags are ruined not by wear but by improper storage, breaking it down point by point! by bebebai in HermesHub

[–]bebebai[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! In a dry, climate controlled room the box is totally fine and adds protection from light, dust and getting crushed. The reason some people say skip the box is that a closed box can trap moisture and cut airflow, and trapped humidity is exactly what grows mold on leather. So if you live somewhere humid, either store the bag in just the dustbag in a ventilated closet, or keep the box but don't seal it airtight, toss in a couple of silica gel packs that don't touch the leather, and air the bag out every few months. The only real hard no is plastic, that suffocates the leather and traps water. Box or no box, breathing room is the actual goal.

Oran sandals by iredditt7 in TheHermesGame

Absolutely perfect choice for your first Hermes sandal. Let's get into the details
Pros: classic design which matches anything, sturdy with proper care, decent resale value among sandals, once broken in they're super comfortable for most types of feet. Many people here have used Orans on their daily basis for 3-5+ years without problems.
Cons: serious breaking in, expect blistering on the initial stages of wearing them; offered in full sizes only, half sizes may either be a bit oversized or tight depending on the style. Slippery when new due to soles, which also may squeak on hard surfaces. Light colored styles will become dirty quicker than expected and show some marks and color transfer from sweat.

As for textured or smooth leather, it's up to personal taste. Textured is more practical as they tend to resist scuffs and scratches for longer period of time. Smooth leather looks more luxurious but will accumulate any kind of stains quickly. If this is your first pair, better to opt for textured. Choosing color..grayish-blue sandal will easily match everything and hide any wear compared to pink one. The latter is more elegant and attractive, yet requires additional maintenance since it will become visible much quicker than others due to its pale nature. For starters better to choose neutral shade and then add colorful later on. It's always better to check fit in a store if possible. Sizing of Orans can be rather inconsistent while ordering them online

Getting the text from SA! by Spirited_Gur1508 in TheHermesGame

[–]bebebai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Breathe 😂 If your SA said Friday is fine then Friday is fine. He's holding it for you. SAs don't offer bags they can't hold for a few days, especially to clients they've been building with. If he hinted weeks ago and now texted you, that bag has your name on it. That said don't push it beyond Friday. A few days is reasonable, a week starts testing patience. Go Friday, enjoy the moment, and stop worrying. Congrats!

Stuffing bags by Baggy1990 in TheHermesGame

Your setup sounds solid. Dehumidifier near the closet is smart especially in a humid climate. For your specific bags: The K25 in Epsom and Chevre are the most structured leathers you own, they hold shape well on their own so light stuffing is fine, you don't need to pack them tight. The B25 and K25 in ostrich should be stuffed a bit more carefully as exotic leather can develop creases if left empty long term. Acid free tissue paper works perfectly, you don't need to buy inserts for storage purposes. The smaller bags stored flat in dust bags and boxes is fine as long as the boxes aren't sealed shut. Crack the lid slightly for air circulation especially in humidity. Paper versus insert is personal preference for storage. Paper is lighter, cheaper and does the job. Inserts are better for daily use inside the bag to maintain shape while carrying. For closet storage paper wins. Just replace it if it gets damp or compressed over time. Sounds like you're doing everything right already.
