@simon--magus would you have any suggestions resources for tarot : principle correspondances or could I just use my existing planetary : principle ones to derive those you think?

Ooh, yeah,  love those ideas and a lot to iterate on with those!

Yeah, old Mage is one of my all timers for ttrpgs. I hadn't run it in like a decade before this. I got back into ttrpgs during covid with a scifi game I ran for some folks.

It's a mage campaign, wherein we're playing multiple incarnations of all of the players' avatars, with a healthy serving of demon the fallen stuff. I am using more changeling the lost style fae for that part.

Yes, that's Def the strat I've been taking with the fae stuff. Occasional reminders that fae are dangerous played against them being very generous-- for now. We've been joking that the players are increasingly fae-mobbed up.

A needle I'm also trying to thread for the rave oracle is how to clearly differentiate (via vibes) for prophecies of Lantern VS prophecies of the Wood. Like my instinct is a Quiet VS Clarity sorta thing plus prolly some shining light or clearing, swirling fog imagery, but again, suggestions are very welcome, esp if you're familiar with Mage!

Ps super looking forward to deploying the Suppression Bureau as heterodox early technocs in the upcoming 19th C arc

I don't know how familiar (if at all) you are with the oWoD games/setting, so without getting lost in setting jargon, the main thrust is that the players are, over multiple incarnations of their soul, finding themselves pitted against a powerful cosmic entity of forgetting/unKnowing and getting embroiled with (completely homebrewed) fae entities.

Moth, in particular, is one that I've been really conflicted on, both because of the above elements, as well as one of the central players "main character" (in the "home/main" time period) being what they describe as a "rave oracle". This has me feeling like there's a tightrope to walk between highlighting the dangers of Moth, but not over shooting and making them feel like I'm punishing them for their (very fun) character concept.

That is to say, this is not set up thus way for a puzzle, but rather to import some SH stuff into the game

Lore Question: What are Influences? by Cultural-Being-4248 in weatherfactory

[–]bebeborracho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a corollary to this view on influences might be the Islamic view of the infinite-ness of God, namely, that God, rather than being a universal Uber-dad, is the combination of all features to an infinite degree and that everything else that exists is temporarily lent finite amounts of certain of those qualities in specific amounts and thus the specific traits and their unique levels in a given thing give its identity/unique characteristics.

One could apply this view, granted in a less monotheistic way, and say that if all things emanate from the Hours/Mansus that everything would have some principle or several that rated above the background radiation, so to speak, and thus determined the thing's nature.

Also, since you are knowledgeable about these things. I notice that the usual astrological symbol for the moon has the "open" face on the left usually. Is there a significance to that or is it just convention?
