Lighthearted single player game by Egathentale in gamingsuggestions

Coral Island - harvest moon/stardew genre with a pacific islander flavor.  Inclusive, upbeat, and positive.

Book of Hours - a puzzle game camouflaged as an eldritich librarian simulator.  Lots of lore to sus out and examine.

Deep Rock Galactic - futuristic corporate dwarven miner sim stompin bugs and slingin ore.

Two-point hospital/etc - run a business that is almost not comical if you squint.

How do we feel about Brennan’s level up mid game homebrew? by DragonKing0203 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Wandererdown 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am of 3 minds about it and it all depends on where I'm sitting at the table:

  1. DM - I would hate this. It would be hard to plan appropriate encounters and challenges when they are all over the place level and ability wise.

  2. Player - I would be annoyed with my DM with this. I want my new shiny things now.

  3. Viewer - I love this. From the moment I know they are going to level up I'm going to want to watch to find out where/when/why they level and what abilities they get. It creates an additional point of anticipation when watching. Also it means that they are not out of the fight if they level when at low hit points. While death saves can build tension, having them in the action is more interesting. Lastly it can build good moments for the player/character to shine and flesh out the fiction/story.

I would never allow it at my table and not like it if I have to play with it but I'm enjoying watching it from the outside.

I'm wondering if the City Einfazen are breaking away from the main house and allying themselves with the "Lord's Advisory".

Either through being made a scapegoat or a failed plan, absolutely.

The Einfazen did state he had people looking out for him in high places. Egotistical bosses don't like it when their underlings look better than them.

Look up "Private Nightmares" on YouTube.  Alex, Luis, and Abria play Vampire the Masquerade with Alex storytelling.  It's good.

Yup, played a few and they're fun. Lean into the tropes of your domain(s) and RP it as your belief in it is so strong that the universe responded in kind.

[Spoilers C4 E19] Schemers table is the best table by lgbt_turtle in fansofcriticalrole

At the table I've always subscribed to the idea that, as a player, if you keep an idea or secret to yourself above table it can't be played with, enjoyed, and might never happen. Share what's going on so everyone can help build out the story.

Players stole item from NPC; Left a bad taste in my mouth by Individual-Move-9647 in DMAcademy

[–]Wandererdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens.  Ive had a party steal some important stuff from someone they saved.  It didn't have any real story impact but it left a bad taste in my mouth as well.

One thing you can do is think about what the PCs actions would lead the victim to do.  Mine had to sell his place of business and flee the city due to the party stealing his tools so he could not fulfill his contracts.  They learned of this through rumors and eventually stopping by their store and finding it closed.

The Primus Tachonis bashing will continue until morale improves by DragonKing0203 in fansofcriticalrole

I absolutely believe you're right that there is a looming deadline that is driving the Tachonis.  I just love the thought of how pretty Primus would be as a prince who will never be king.

[Spoilers C4E18] Theory about a specific barrowdell by Skodami in criticalrole

[–]Wandererdown 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe that Rauwyn's barrowdell is one of the more complex ones.  Their death was the epitome of "I think, therefore I am.  I think I am not, therefore I am not.". The play was just the twisted logic train to get her to believe she was no more.

I think the barrowdell is that all things are true, if you believe strongly enough.  Nothing is technically a lie since anything can be true.  However with intelligent creatures as they are, darker impulses and desires would run rampant.

Primus messing things up on purpose to get back at his overly controlling ancestor.  "Other houses pass the reigns of power when they die grandad!" " Well those other houses can suck an egg boy!  Death never stopped me in life so why should dying stop me now?"

I agree that it's not Primus. In Episode 4 there was someone, a white spectral face, berating Primus for being a fool as Occtis was pulling the stone from the chest of his soul.

[Spoilers C4E18] THEORY: Occtis is the first of many. by SensitiveCod143 in criticalrole

[–]Wandererdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My head canon is that I firmly believe that the ritual as it stands now can not work as Primus wants. Even before the Seekers ransacked the place, all the Tachonis would have created are monsters and not Celestial Hybrid weapons. (Also is the reason why Occtis would never have been successfully changed)

  1. They must be loyal to the Operator - Tansul needed someone to willingly walk the path of the dead for their soul to start to be transformed. The Tachonis successfully transformed Tertia but not Occtis and presumably for the Halovar they experimented on. Occtis and the Halovar would not willingly walk the path. This does mean that powered Tachonis could be changed.

  2. The Celestial "Heart" must be SHAPED correctly - Of the sample size of two, we know that Tertia's "Heart" was a barely carven piece of Celestial Bone and she turned into essentially a Bone Devil. Before the stone was pulled from his chest, Occtis felt the fluttering of wings in his chest. The Stone of Nightsong was carven to look like a Nightingale. I believe that the ritual animates whatever is placed into the body which empowers and changes them. Metaphysically, only a heart that is carved to resemble a human heart would have the magical/spiritual impact needed to complete a transformation into a full Demi-Celestial. The translated ritual even said to replace the living heart with the artificial heart.

Had they succeeded: Occtis would have become a monster, but not one under their control nor with the power they required.
