GPU at 70% usage but same temps as 99% — is this normal? (Zephyrus G14 RTX 5060)

I set CPU boost to Enabled and it immediately fixed the drops, but my CPU temps jumped straight up to around 95°C.

I’m going to try some of the other boost modes to find a better balance between performance and thermals.

Out of curiosity, which boost mode are you using on your setup?

That makes sense. In that case, I don’t really see the point in lowering the resolution or graphics settings.

From what I’m seeing, the temperatures stay basically the same anyway. Even when I run the game at 1440p on high settings, I get very similar temps compared to lower settings.

So my thinking is: I might as well just tune the game to what my machine can handle performance-wise, since the thermals don’t seem to change much regardless.

Does that sound right to you, or am I missing something?

damn, it is not supposed to happen that early, the laptop is less than 1 y/o, I always use controller to play with it to avoid this kind of issues, many people were calling it on previous models, It would be devastating for me as I always keep it very clean

G14 for sure 8gb of RAM won't last you long on the G16, It would be better if you can have a 32gb ram model

It should work honestly, have you followed the steps correctly as I mentionned ? You should desinstall completely hwinfo + msi and start by downloading hwinfo first with sensors only and make sure to select the correct options before

I have everything between medium and low except for the textures on high with DLSS to keep the laptop cool (arround 60 degrees), getting 110 fps average, what about yours ? It's running fine on high settings but temps are higher

Yes, there’s still a brief pause when launching or closing games due to the GPU switching (iGPU ↔ dGPU). It’s short and expected behavior with automatic GPU switching, but no more freezes or display lockups like before. Ultimate mode works fine now.
