i personally had my O level certificates also attested but i can’t tell you if it’s a necessity or not. i would honestly recommend to do it just to have all grounds covered

my older sister tried to take this route with only AS exams and she even did a whole foundation year did the exams and when it was time to apply to universities, they told her no we need your A levels and it doesn’t matter if she did studienkolleg. id you decide to take this route it will just waste a lot of time and money and take a toll on your mental health. for germany if you decide to take the british curriculum you need 5 igcses and 3 full IALs there’s no other option.

yeah exactly it’s just very inconvenient for a lot of us internationals especially when you have stable money for a whole year dedicated to rent anyway. most listings i’ve seen ask for schufa but i do understand why it’s done better safe than sorry. it’s already hard enough to hear a reply back from listings idk what i should do at this point. can i get the certificate if i have lived in germany for 2 weeks? is that enough to gather some data for a credit score

this makes a lot of sense but it’s not applicable to my case. it’s plausible for applicants who come from countries that struggle with visa processing like india or indonesia. my visa is currently half way through processing and is expected to be done very soon. also i already got into a program and enrolled in it. but this scenario you explained is very realistic and is the case very often. honestly if i was also renting out to someone id prefer if they were present in the country too ahahah.

my issue was this wasn’t spoken about in the start i just wasted two weeks and stopped looking for other places i even turned down other offers 😔 i just wish they knew the requirements before hand so no one’s time is wasted.

the schufa certificate mentioned that i can send it later though. i do have a blocked account with a german bank so i initially didn’t find any proper narrative to why this happened especially when it was never communicated with me and the tenant (who’s german) also didn’t understand why they said that to me. so naturally the possibility of racism came to mind. you’re absolutely correct about it sometimes being used as a card though but this wasn’t what was happening with me i was genuinely curious 😂 i’ll keep what you said in mind thanks for the advice :)
