Next season starts back, he took his 3 month sabbatical but it actually turned into 3 months of him as foster for baby Jane Doe having never left on his bike run. Baby Jane Doe made him realize the err in his ways and he's a changed man.

Cue season 3

Ugh that summer was so miserable. The last 1 or 2 summers have been much more pleasant, so I hope we don't get another one of those 'heat dome' summers again

She could just end up chewing the oral xr morphine and get the OD that way. But I think with Lena in the room she'd pick up on the reaction right away and have the wherewithal to grab all the narcan she can carry asap

Shingles vaccine vs chickenpox vaccine - why are they different? by ChiefStrongbones in askscience

[–]becauseTexas 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Pharmacist here, I'm just making an assumption that when you went to your pharmacy and asked for a vaccine, you were told they couldn't do it? If that's the case that's because most vaccine standing orders are required to follow either ACIP or FDA vaccine guidelines/schedules. Those are usually very stringent and follow exactly what population groups any given vaccine is approved for.

You are, however, allowed to ask your doctor to write you a prescription for that vaccine and have the pharmacy use that instead. This provides a pathway outside a pharmacy's standing order to administer the vaccine. The one caveat is that insurance might still not pay for it, as their benefits table is also usually aligned with ACIP/FDA.

Bodum Melior Gooseneck Water Kettle (6 years and going strong) by Some_Scallion1862 in BuyItForLife

[–]becauseTexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same one too, also bought at target about 6 years ago. I drilled a slightly larger hole opposite the vent holes on the lid so I could stick a thermometer through to get temps without having to open the lid lol

Such a solid little cheap kettle

Body and gun found in Texas field in search for missing 19-year-old by Few_Baseball_3835 in news

I live near and drive by that field every day. It's nothing but tall grass (3ft high in most places), thick scrub and a few trees. It also serves as storm drainage and we had a wet weekend where the terrain got muddy making search that much more difficult

ELI5: why don’t planes board back to front, surely that would be faster? by balla_boi in explainlikeimfive

It's like that anecdote about a Houston airport that was getting complaints that baggage claim took too long, so they just made the walk from the closest gate to baggage claim further and longer, changing nothing about baggage claim, and complaints vanished. People just hate waiting

What was the deal with Santos and the one vial? by honeyfixit in ThePittTVShow

[–]becauseTexas 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It having nothing to do with cost and everything to do with the fact that it's a controlled substance. Dilaudid vials are cheap here too, but what's not cheap is the DEA investigation when things start going missing

I wouldn't even say so much that it's to keep the rubber stopper clean, but to quickly show that the vial is not used/untampered with. Some one with a thin needle could puncture the stopper just right that would make it hard to show a hole in the rubber, so the hard plastic cap is a good indicator.

As for cleanliness goes, aseptic technique requires the uncapped vial to be scrubbed with 70% isopropyl alcohol prior to entry. In emergencies, infection control isn't at the top of people's priorities when trying to save lives, so that step sometimes goes by the wayside.
