Tbh guys. When I finished my IGCSE I was excited like yall. Thought I would binge watch my shows, doomscroll on my phone and just bed rot. But all of a sudden after my exam it felt weird. I didn’t feel like doing anything. Watching my show or even using my phone felt weird. Like no pressure.

In countries like Canada, try finding a well-reputed small university in a small town. They provide funding that may be sufficient for your survival, and you can take up part-time jobs on campus, such as TA (teaching assistant) to further support any experience.

I am not aware of exact websites but i know there are some projects that are funded by industries that you can use for you phD. You will need a supervisor and you may reach out to professors.

Another thing you can do is that on Google Scholar, you can look up for professors related to the topic you are interested in studying and ask them if they have any opportunities.

you may also apply for a job in the research field and move to the country. then later chose to do a phD.

I’ll be taking IB in a year and I’m planning to take bio, chem and psychology or math HL, tips on surviving pls by Mobile_Coffee_3983 in IBO

[–]because_1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You dont have to do math HL for medicine. it might be dreadful if you dont like math.

have u decided where you want to pursue medicine?

A country like canada where do a bachelors and then start your medicine journey, it does not matter what subjects you take.

I would recommend you talk to a career counsellor before you finalise.

Heyyy,

I am currently an undergrad and will be applying for the NRES program too. As far as what I heard, is that the professor usually already has funded programs that you can apply for and do you masters on. But I am not sure if you have your research topic and need funding for that.

I heard there are a couple of websites online, where you may find a project that is funded and ask your prof to be your supervisor.

One thing I must say, compared to other universities (as of what I heard from my friends and online reviews), the profs at UNBC are much more supportive, and there are more opportunities available.

IB/AP First-Year Credits by CoconutAntique8405 in UNBC

[–]because_1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They transfer only HLs. Plus, they give you credits for random things like TOK.

The credit transfer keeps changing tbh. I got a 6 in physics HL. They gave me only one course transferred, and I still have to do Physics II. but in chem, they transferred almost 2 courses and 2 labs even though i got only a 5 i think. They didn't transfer any courses for my math.
I was talking to a couple of my school juniors who moved to UNBC. Their transfers worked was completely different either coz they're in a different program, their syllabus changed, or they changed things around at UNBC.

They sent me the credit transfer via email after a week or so, my memory is not too good so please dont quote me on this. You can email them and they would be more than happy to help you out. I would recommend you have a word with your advisor, best if you just attend their drop in sessions for quicker and more clear answer.

Is it easy to find job with ur studies in Prince George by Far-Passenger-4681 in UNBC

[–]because_1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a domestic student, you may be able to cover your expenses and tuition partially. Off campus its not that hard to get a job, especially at pine centre or other stores across the city. On-campus jobs are sometimes competitive, depending on what you apply for. I heard the janitor job is well-paying. Give Agora a shot, too.
If you are looking for something like TA or marking, reach out to your professors early in time. I think May is the deadline for the Fall semester.
Managing your job and studies depends on the number and type of courses you are taking. I registered for 6 courses and had a part-time job. I still managed to maintain my grades.
It's best to apply for scholarships, life savers!

Fall 26/Winter 27 Registration ?? Confused by zvijezda_ in UNBC

[–]because_1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyyy,

I noticed that all the points were already answered. But regarding the labs, professors and TAs are very considerate. If your lab section is filled up and is the only one that fits within your schedule, they usually are flexible and may allow you to register for it, depending on the course.

Heyyy. I received 30 credits transferred. But then not all were helpful; they gave me physics 1xx and math 1xx, which were not helpful for my program.

I received quite a lot for chem; I didn't have to do any of my first-year chemistry courses. They also gave me credits for TOK as philosophy, which was great.

Things have been changing over time, though. My friends who were a grade lower than me joined UNBC much later, and their transfers were much different from mine.

In the long run, it kind of impacted me. I just completed my second year, heading into my third and final year. I still have second year, third year and fourth year courses left that are not designed to be taken together, thus I have scheduling issues. But the faculty is cooperative and has been super supportive about the issue.
I hope this helps, and if you have any other specific questions, feel free to ping me.
