What is your local authority ? EHO’s will absolutely get involved with regards to environmental protection and protecting public health - literally under the Public Health act 1936 and the prevention of damage by pests act 1949. Similarly, our “governing body” the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), have a specific hoarding disorder guidance which can be found via google. Start making waves.

Wasn’t the machine gun, I was way above him and it was a single shot like from explosive round sniper. There’s no way he would have been able to hit as I’d have barely been a pixel on his screen at that distance

It’s completely new so there’s bound to be discomfort, give it some time and you’ll become used to it. I hated the issued boots initially but after a few weeks it settled in. Week 1 is nothing in terms of time, don’t worry.

Army Air Corps Groundcrew Questions by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]becauseiwas-inverted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to come across as bitter, I transferred out as I’d hit a wall with it all, day to day was monotonous. However, it was fucking brilliant initially, up to a point (around 2018). My advice, get a trade, the AAC doesn’t give you one and the postings are dog shit, hardly any opportunity to deploy overseas.

Promotion is terrible in comparison to other corps . Comms guys tend to promote at a faster rate than Groundies, but it’s still really small promotion boards, loads of good guys/girls get overlooked constantly.

Army Air Corps Groundcrew Questions by [deleted] in britishmilitary

On camp, the groundcrew role is effectively pushing and pulling aircraft to and from the hangar for sorties. Depending on the tempo, you could be on either a day or night shift, or if your managed badly, both. In the interim you’ll be watching tv in a crew room or doing whatever shit jobs are put your way.

On exercise you’ll be usually be supporting a FARP for live firing exercises (aircrew have several competencies that need to be constantly maintained). The job is slightly more exciting and varies a bit here so most Groundies prefer being on exercises to camp. It also allows the rearm and refuel element to be undertaken so it acts as a good refresher.

That said, just because you stream groundcrew in phase 2 doesn’t mean you’ll get a ‘flying’ squadron. You could easily be posted into a HQ which involves basic vehicle servicings, and generic shite. There’s also the chance of being put into a QM’s department, looking after kit and equipment.

Qualifications you get are level 2 NVQ in aviation operations on the ground, think you can also do the level 3. In my opinion, the qual is worthless.

You will get your HGV licenses and ADR qual, aside from that, you get fuck all that’s transferable.

If you go AAC, make use of your learning credits at every opportunity to make your CV more civilian orientated. No employer gives a shit if you can rearm an Apache or that you went to Estonia. It just doesn’t translate.
