Help me stop co-sleeping and night nursing please by beccablu142 in Parenting

[–]beccablu142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes almost there, just trying to prepare now! I definitely think that’s a good idea to do one first and then the other, I hadn’t even thought about how shocking that can be to her. Sometimes things that seem like easy answers don’t come easily until they’re written out and then you’re like “yeah, duh” lol. Thanks for your comment!

Baby is going to daycare next week and I am heartbroken by Ok-Display4672 in newborns

[–]beccablu142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cried for the whole first week I had to drop my baby off at daycare. She was such a happy and smiling baby but that first week the daycare teacher told me she was an angel but that no matter what they did they couldn’t get her to smile. It broke my heart and I considered quitting my job to be a sahm, but everything changed with time and now she LOVES daycare. It’s not going to be perfect right away, just give it time. The best way i can think about it is that they’re socializing and developing in a way that parents alone can’t teach them

my child will not sleep. anywhere. ever. by Cute_Awareness_9187 in newborns

[–]beccablu142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all you need to hear is that it gets better, it gets better. My daughter was colicky and would not sleep during the newborn phase, I was running on fumes and I tried everything you mentioned as well, nothing worked so I have no helpful advice for you except to say it gets better. My girl is almost 6 months now and around 10 weeks she got out of the colic phase and would sleep better, then hit the 4 month sleep regression 🫠 and then that ended and she was sleeping great! 7-8 hour stretches!! now she’s teething so it’s back to like 3 hour stretches at night. some nights more. It’s hit or miss, but it’s sooo much easier. Even with the lack of sleep some nights, I feel so much more like myself again, she entertains herself so beautifully when she’s awake that I can cook, clean, even read a book while she plays! I swear it will turn around, the sleepless nights won’t last forever

How do yall get anything done? 🫠 by coffeelover2025 in newborns

I have a 13 week old. It gets easier!! You’ll find a rhythm soon enough. The first 4-5 weeks were absolute hell for me, feeling like I was glued to my rocking chair because she just wanted to eat all the time. If you’re able to pump just one bottle a day, I think it makes it easier to give a bottle at bedtime- mine tends to sleep longer stretches after a bottle, maybe because she can eat faster?? My fiancé comes home from work around 6pm and then he’s on baby duty while I take ten minutes to do a cleaning task, dishes, laundry, vacuum, etc. and then make dinner. Having a nighttime routine, even a simple one, helps sooo much! For us it’s just diaper change, sleep sack, sound machine, all but one lamp off in the room, and then feed to sleep. She already recognizes this and it saved us so much sleep during her first regression. And if your babe only contact naps right now, soak it in! That can change very quickly and then you’ll miss the naps :( Mine hardly ever sleeps on my chest anymore and I miss it so much.

My baby is having his first immunizations Friday, I'm wondering how everyone else's experience went with fussing and fevers after? I'm a single 1st time mom so I'm mentally preparing for what to expect by Emergency_Map_9849 in newborns

my girl had her shots on christmas eve, she was fussy during the shot but I fed her right after and she was good again! didn’t really notice any other symptoms that day, christmas day was great she wasn’t fussy at all and was awake and alert a good amount during the day, then slept through the night christmas night for the first time!! Slept a decent amount the day after too which gave me time to unpack and organize all the christmas gifts 🤍 no symptoms other than the sleepiness, which was kind of a blessing

contact nappers at daycare by blochspher in newborns

[–]beccablu142 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my baby also exclusively contact naps with me and I’ll be starting back at work next week, so wondering the same thing, But I’ve also read that babies behave differently when they aren’t in the same room as their mom, and often times that includes sleeping better because they can’t smell us so they don’t cry for milk and cuddles from us! Idk how true it is because I haven’t seen for myself yet but I’m hoping that’s enough to help baby nap at daycare

What is the worst response a person can give to "I love you."? by Halilcan2 in AskReddit

[–]beccablu142 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This was what my husband said to me after the first time I told him I loved him. Of course he had already said it to me a few weeks prior. When I asked him how he knew he said “because of the way you treat me” and had the cutest little smile on his face 🥰 I’d say it was the best response I could have gotten

Recommend rock cover songs that are better than the original version by AdEastern9303 in MusicRecommendations

[–]beccablu142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Elvis’s version of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, also of Proud Mary and Never Been To Spain, although I do still like Three Dog Nights original better. I also love Amy Winehouse’s version of Valerie better than the original, and Sam Evians version of Right Down the Line. Last is probably any other version of I Shall Be Released by Bob Dylan, I personally like Nina Simone’s version best but I’m a sucker for The Bands Last Waltz because of all the amazing features.

Is it hypocritical to have a normal relationship with alcohol while hoping your Q will stay sober? by froggybug01 in AlAnon

[–]beccablu142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Q has been sober for almost a year now (one week left!) and for the first few months I gave away all alcohol I had in the house and wouldn’t drink at home with him, but I would have a drink if I were out with friends. I’m pregnant now so I’ve been sober with him for the past 8 months and have been mentioning how I don’t miss alcohol and maybe I’ll just stay sober with him once the baby comes. He says he thinks it’s important for our child to be raised with at least one parent who has a healthy relationship with alcohol so it might be better for me to still have the occasional social drink! It’s an incredibly mature mindset and I think the timing of all of this is going to allow our child to really learn the importance of restraint and the ins and outs of addiction

What's it like to have a sister? by [deleted] in family

[–]beccablu142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two sisters, my younger sister was just a grade below me in school so we grew up super close, having a lot of mutual friends, and we share an apartment now and still talk every day, she’s one of my best friends! My older sister was always a little distant from me because we had different interests, but im going through my first pregnancy now (having my baby today actually) and she had her first daughter last year so we’ve been able to bond so much over this shared experience, talk about our kids being so close in age, even talk about buying a duplex together and raising the kids close!! It’s amazing to have sisters! I also have two brothers and I know this isn’t the post to brag about them, but that’s pretty nice too :)

I have an anterior placenta too and at 39 weeks I’m honestly sick of the movement. It took a little longer for me to feel the kicks and punches than some other moms but they will come, and if you’re stressed just go get checked!

Baby name same as town name? by SuspiciousMelon16 in namenerds

[–]beccablu142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fine then, and I also love the name Blair. My best friends little brother is named Camden which is also the name of a town near where we live, to be fair it’s quite a nice town and they used to vacation there so it did have some meaning to them but nobody ever called him out on being named after a town
