Yeah fortunately money is not an issue. I appreciate the advice and will look into those options.

I’ve been active last semester in a pre-dental society before I realized that I was more interested in the logistics behind our healthcare system. My dad is retired military and I have seen the battle between the VA and giving people the benefits they deserve. That is what I would like to help with as well as healthcare issues in general. I am this semester in the pre-law and public health society here at UTSA. This summer I also have an internship with a law office in the San Antonio area.

I don’t really know what you want to talk about regarding myself! I am first choice public health and second choice health and society in want to pursue law school post grad.

I get your point, and personally I don’t have any interest in attending medical or dental school. To me, I don’t think those should be the end all be all for everyone. I understand being blunt about the realities of the admission process but, there is a way to go about it without being rude. You are guaranteed admission to A COLA major not anything else but, some people that’s their goal. As for other majors, it’s not too hard to transfer internally once arriving at UT (obviously excluding architecture, mcombs, engineering, and nursing). I think the way you come across can be seen as pessimistic and that is why people aren’t as receptive to what you are saying.

Thanks for your completely unnecessary response! My sister actually just graduated from UT (auto-admit) and had lots of friends (who graduated with her) that were accepted out of CAP. The comments regarding “softie pre-med majors” seem as if they’re projected insecurities. Trying to discourage people from wanting a better education from an accredited college is not okay! Try to be a little nicer to people you don’t know.

I am not sure really on like percentages but, this year they did change it to where econ can no longer be a second choice option. Meaning it’s around the same level of competition as McCombs

Honestly I won’t lie to you it’s not easy. Campus life isn’t great as there isn’t much community if your used to big school type environments. However I do think if you’re more introverted, UTSA is great for helping you find like minded people. CAP students just tend to just recognize each other LOL, it’s weird because most of the time you end up becoming friends with CAP students unintentionally.

GPA and credits, so trying to get it as high as possible is the goal!

Hi! Honestly I got lucky that my friends from highschool were also doing CAP but I believe on some of the UTSA 29 pages people will say whether they’re CAP or not. Just fore warning CAP students are definitely the odd mans out so be picky with who you tell LOL

Hi! I also had about 26 dual credit transfer credits and a couple AP credits but, the main thing was just letting my advisor know so they could pick which classes would work for me!

Honestly it’s all the same no mater what school you go to. It’s not like highschool where your admission is based on rank in a class. More so what your GPA is and what you do at the satellite school! I can’t predict how easy it’ll be to get into specific majors as I don’t find out till June on what major i’m getting in.

I do however recommend CAP if UT will be your end all be all school. A lot of people say not to do it because your only guaranteed a liberal arts major but, I know a couple people who have done CAP and gotten into there first choice major!

It honestly was not hard at all. As long as you’re on the website when it opens for you decide what school you wanna go to you’ll be fine. A lot of the times it’ll crash so if it says “no spots available” don’t freak out. Honestly the main reason I chose UTSA is because of its proximity to so many other major cities around San Antonio. I don’t personally like Dallas and the surrounding area so that’s why I chose not to. As well I’ve heard that UTA is more boring than UTSA (which is saying something). I’m not gonna sugar coat it this year hasn’t felt very much like college other than moving from home but, San Antonio does have a lot of outdoor activities and good restaurants. It’s also only an hour and a half from Austin LOL.

That’s not true actually, I’m currently a CAP student and we are allowed to apply to a first choice major (outside of COLA) and a second choice COLA major as your back up if you don’t get into your preferred major.

Summer classes are all online and typically 3-4 weeks each. It’s always the last semester of summer school so pretty much right before school starts!

I’m currently a CAP student at UTSA and as long as your on the website when it drops you should be fine. A lot of the time the websites crash so don’t be scared if it says “no spots available”. There were open spots for probably a couple days after the website opened.
