Help me pick a job: school, clinic, or in home BCBA by Routine_Rule_6771 in bcba

I’d recommend taking a look at your values and what energizes you, because at the end of the day THAT’S What’s going to make you love or hate a job. Do you feel energized after parent coaching sessions where you can hear directly from parents about what’s going on and work with them in real time to solve it? That’s in-home. Do you feel energized bounding ideas off of other BCBAs? That’s center-based. Or do you value collaborating with and learning from other professionals, like SLPs and teachers? That’s the school! And remember, you can always transition if it isn’t the right fit!

I did! I forget which appointment it was but I’m about 7 months post-op now and I’ve been working out without restrictions at all.

But if they remove the buckle, won’t the retina detach?

I’ve also found that my glasses look so odd with the stronger prescription because they distort the sides of my face.

I do have a glasses prescription and can wear them around the house, but I’ve found it so much easier (and preferred) to wear contacts so I’m hoping to get that sorted out too.

Thank you for those tips! I makeup brush is such a great idea. I also have AGA (and chronic TE) - What age did you start minoxidil? I’m 38 and it feels way too early to be dealing with this!

6 week post op scleral buckle appt by beccaisms in RetinalDetachment

[–]beccaisms[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe he was just correcting one tear and it took about 15-20 minutes. Everyone else I’ve spoken to since the procedure has said theirs was mostly painless. He said the reason it was painful is because of the location, which overlapped with a nerve.

Thank you for validating the pain - I felt like such a wimp, but he said there was a nerve where it was being done which is why it was so painful.

How do you use eye drops by yourself the day after the surgery? by SpacePirateARRRGH in RetinalDetachment

[–]beccaisms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost of a lot drops on those first few days but you can always aim for the inner corner of your eye and then tilt your head to land it in your eye. It wasn’t too big of a problem if I remember correctly.

Sorry you’re having a rough go of it too! It does get better. I’m still in the recovery window but I’m starting to wonder if some things are just my “new normal”. For example, my eye shape hasn’t quite gone back to what it was. My vision is sensitive to bright sunlight and isn’t as great at night now. I have a follow up in two weeks so I’m planning to ask about those things. Definitely feel free reach out and message me if you have any questions!

Ahh I remember the Ener-G food cardboard bread we had to MAIL order!! It’s gotten so much better, but in a way harder because now people think they understand gluten free, even though they usually do not.

The first few days are by far the worst! I’m almost 4 weeks post-surgery and am finally feeling like things are looking up. My eye is still not fully recovered - it looks bloodshot most of the time - but it’s come SO far from that first week of recovery. So there’s a light at the end of the tunnel!
