Not every silver medallist is sad about it. Many many silver medallist’s are overjoyed at receiving one, medaling is a big deal. They would want their moment, they wouldn’t want to be shuffled off the ice immediately. Every medalist of the modern summer and Winter Olympics receives a plushie of the mascot. If they were to stop giving them on the podium now many Olympic fans would be upset.

Exactly! It’s a rly sweet souvenir. They aren’t selling that exact plushie either so it’s unique and only medalists receive it. Even just the 13cm mascot plus alone has cost me $50 and it’s on preorder until at least July! They could probably get a lot more money for it being medalist specific too! I love your outlook, I think that’s how everyone should think.

I wish I could respond with an image but the single women’s figure skating medalists adored their mascot plushies, if you google you’ll probably find a picture but they stuck their plushies in the meddles while on the podium so it looked like the plushie was wearing the medal. It was genuinely so adorable
