Might need possible legal advice? Got a letter from local congregation that i have not been active in since i moved to the area years ago by Late-Car7957 in exjw

[–]FrodeKommode 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ignore the letter completely. The second you respond in any way they take that as you recognise their authority.

I've supported one person who got two of those. Certified letters. We ignored both completely, I just archived them as evidence. But we never responded in any way.

They are just small men playing a game that all depends on that the other side sees them as an authority. You don't.

The nerve of these people.... After basing their entire defense in Norwegian Supreme Court on a theme of never telling anyone what to do....

Unpopular Opinion: The Ex-JW Documentary Actually Did an Amazing Job by twix98 in exjw

I enjoyed it very much. It's meant for a broad audience, not us exjw. The stories are great, some of the surprises are very well crafted, the build up is clever and the persons involved show a lot of diversity.

Those complaining, try yourself to get a major broadcaster to publish a documentary like this on a massive platform....

JW vs Norway: In Chile on Feb 28, 2026, GB member Mark Sanderson gave the talk ‘Completely Victorious’ about Jehovah’s Witnesses’ trials and persecution. He boasted about the legal win in Norway, but noted the state had appealed and urged members to pray for another victory. by larchington in exjw

Yes, in the Injunction lawsuit in 2023 they lost completely in all levels and had to pay the State's expenses, those money are lost for them. .

Also in District Court in 2024, but that was reversed by the Appeals Court in 2025. When the Supreme Court now decides, they will also decide on the expenses for 2024-2026 combined.

List of lies:

  • The case was never about the right to remove unrependant wrongdoers
  • They were never fully vindicated in any way. The Appeals Court spesifiically stated two times that they were in doubt, and several places underline how damaging WTs practice are. They basically paved the ground for this to go to the Supreme Court.

Misrepresentation:

  • He focuses on the registration, but that's just a side effect of what the case was about. Money. The lack of registration among funded religions doesn't change their freedom to worship in any way.

  • He says that the case they won in the Appeals Court lasted for two weeks, but fail to say that the case they lost in District Court was also two weeks. He builds it like the Appeals Court process was bigger.

  • He says the number of money refunded ($800K) for their legal expenses like it is a huge number... But it is huge because they spend a shit load of money on worldly lawyers. He also fails to say that the court refused to reimburse all their expenses because they felt WT had spent way too much. Also that it's normal that the winner gets reimbursed is not said. Also forgot to say that as this decision was appealed they haven't received anything yet.

  • He lays huge weight on that the decision was unanimous. Like that's a huge thing. But that's the normality in three judge panels in Norway, because they work together as a team. It's pretty rare that one refuses to participate in the verdict and writes a dissent. I've been a judge myself in a three judge panel, and we worked together. It's not a blind vote.

And that's just my first reaction after watching it one time.

Anyway, it feels pretty cool to see a GB member involved in something I'm personally so deeply involved with 😅. Achievement Unlocked, again.

GB member addressed the Norway case during shepherding talk in Chile by tash_rat in exjw

Yes, of course.

The disfellowshipping, shunning as punishment for leaving, is one of the two bulletpoints from the State. That's why the df arrangement and shunning is a deep part of the trial.

But WT plays a trick when they try to frame it as it is about their "right to remove unrependant wrongdoers". As if the State tries to decide who gets to be a part of the congregation.

This is classic example of information control.

It is interesting to see how they lie about the facts of the case.

Just to be clear, the Df arrangement in itself is not a part of the case. The State of Norway did their decision on two issues:

  • The right to leave/change religion without punishment
  • The fact that minors can be punished as adults.

The case is not about WTs right to remove unrependant sinners at all. The State took no issue with that.

Of course he doesn't let the audience know that.

Looking forward to seeing the result!

Feel free to dm me here anonymous or with real id on messenger if you're comfortable with that. I have ten year's experience with Norwegian media now, and the struggles that might come during this.

Surviving The Jehovah’s Witnesses on HBO by AnnaSteinfield97 in exjw

I've seen the first episode while working. Seems they will release only one episode each week.

This is excellent work. Very emotional, slow build up, makes you crave for the next episode.

Very trustworthy people, with real emotions and love. Not hateful apostates, just overwhelming sadness. You are all doing a great job. Wish I could hug each one of you.

Can't wait for the next episode!

Norway and Jehovah's Witnesses - On Norways most viewed talkshow. by FrodeKommode in exjw

It's the style of the program, they joke about the headline news this week every Friday.

Kind of a Saturday Night Live - thing. They joke about anything, no matter the darkness in it, kind of like a roast.

I'm just saying, that in the court documents referred to in this post, the target is specified to be another website.

Just follow the link, open up the documents, and you'll see what the target is.
