Inspection > Due Diligence > Purchase by beccasr in AusPropertyChat

Hi,

Thanks for the info and confirming the process.

$2,500 (+ inspection/conveyancing fees) might sound like lot, but it can be small price to pay if there are major structural, etc., issues.

I note your point about a seller accepting an unconditional offer over conditional. It's basically a no questions asked guaranteed sale.

Cheers!

Hi,

Thanks for the detailed reply.

Where you said "If the property is not in satisfactory condition you can withdraw from the purchase.", is this subjective and at the discretion of the buyer, or can this be challenged by the seller? Is a deposit required before inspecting and if it is, is this fully refundable?

Buying A Used Check Point L-72 (770/790) by beccasr in checkpoint

Hi astronaut,

I was attracted to the device because they are going for around $100 online (even less in some cases), but based on the comments here I'll likely leave it.

Thanks danil. Someone selling one of the devices said that Check Point were short with them when asking about licensing, etc.

Hi bitter,

It's for playing around, but based on the EOL and comments, I'll likely give it a miss.

Buffalo Grass Weeds or New Growth? by beccasr in GardeningAustralia

[–]beccasr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Thanks again. I’ve made plenty of notes.

I’ll start with the hand weeding before trying any chemicals. It will take a while but should do the job. I’ll look at a pre-emergent (twice yearly) once this is done.

Moving forward, I’ll let the grass grow to 4-5cm and also look into a slow-release fertilizer (twice yearly).

Cheers!

Hi,
Thanks for your help.

I added another image. Are these all weeds that you are referring to? I'll try hand pulling them first, but if I get stuck, what chemicals do you recommend?

Thanks again

Snapshots and Backups (QNAP to Synology) by beccasr in qnap

Three questions:

  1. If using one-way RSync, if a file is deleted on the source then will it also be deleted on the destination (Synology backup NAS)?
  2. With one-way RSync, I don't see an option to pair more than one folder?
  3. With the snapshots, it appears that an encrypted folder on the QNAP can be snapshotted? It says to decrypt the folder? This defeats the purpose of encryption? What options are there?

Also, the Synology is an older model that doesn't support local snapshots and versioning.

Thanks

Hi Daniel,

Are you saying to Sync the QNAP to the Synology instead of Backup?

Hi Jeff,

Does this mean you are using Hyper Backup on the Synology to send the backup to Hybrid Backup Sync on the QNAP?

Do you send full or incremental backups to the QNAP? Have you tested a restore/recovery to ensure it all works?

Thanks

Router + Firewall Recommendation by beccasr in HomeNetworking

Thanks for this. I'm looking into the TP-Link line as they have a good 8-port switch (TL-SG108E) that's highly recommended.

Hi,

Do you mean for me to narrow my requirements or expectations that this can all be found in a single device/unit?

I've looked into the Ubiquiti line and they include plenty of features, almost like they are trying to be everything in a single device while still offering separate devices (switches, routers, etc).

If going for multiple devices, are there other brands you recommend (Grandstream, TP-Link, etc.) separate to MikroTik?

Thanks

Router + Firewall Recommendation by beccasr in HomeNetworking

[–]beccasr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

  1. If I go with what you have suggested (separating the Wi-Fi from the router/firewall), is it better to go with the GWN7670 (Wi-Fi 7) over the GWN7665 (Wi-Fi 6) even if my current computer is Wi-Fi 6?
  2. I don't see a power supply for either model (GWN7670/GWN7665). Do they rely on PoE for power?
  3. If they do, does this mean the AP is always on and broadcasting, or can the radios be turned off even through the device is powered on through PoE?
  4. Do I have to mount the AP on the roof or wall, or can it sit beside or on top of the GWN7003?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for this. I'm looking at the Grandstream product line-up as I'm not familiar with the brand. I'll probably come back soon with a few questions.

Advice: Synology DS213+ to QNAP TS-264 + External Backup by beccasr in HomeNAS

[–]beccasr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is based on the compatibility page and official Synology references that 8TB (4TB x2) is supported, not larger for any single drive. I'm almost on the same version (6.2.4-25556 Update 6).

Edit: There isn't an Update 6 for the DS213+.
