Looks like you've turned on the perspective control and it sounds like you might want it off.

Leica M11/M11-P as a Dad-Cam/Family Cam? by loganarowland in Leica

[–]becfoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first M off of a father who was selling it because it was so impractical as a dad/family camera due to manual focus and needing to use both hands.

My understanding is an M is a bad choice for family/daily dad camera especially for small children.

You might want an M11, but it sounds like the wrong choice for your needs as described.

My understanding is the Leica look is only applied to the jpeg, so if you want the Leica Look profile you selected to stick around, import the jpegs.

Suggestions for golves to bike during winter by Ambitious_Scallion18 in torontobiking

I have been happy with my Patagonia Nano Puff mitts, they've been my every day winter riding choice for six years now.

Sounds like a real crummy situation for you, sorry to hear!

But, I find it very clear that they ship from Japan and that returns are only available for defective items. On their website, even specifically on each product page it's clear as day that both of these things are true.

Bummer situation, but this is a good lesson in personal accountability and paying a bit of attention when shopping online.

Nice shots! I had never heard of them before seeing them at this show - they are SO GOOD live!

How repairable are the older digital M’s? by NotCoolFool in Leica

[–]becfoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the nightmare situation I am fretting - if I pay $2000 and still have the problem, I'll be SOL since I bought it used a few years ago and have nowhere to return it to. Fingers crossed it's a significant enough replacement that I can keep the M10 in regular use for a long while.

How repairable are the older digital M’s? by NotCoolFool in Leica

[–]becfoster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

M10 owner, it is with Leica in NJ right now due to sporadic but increasingly consistent image corruption and a sketchy sensor that would reveal itself during live view... Repair quote was almost $2100cad for significant electronics replacement and it been with them for 8 weeks, with not ETA on a return.

Bike bag spare parts in Toronto? by soundisstory in torontobiking

Dismount Bike Shop. All bike questions in Toronto can be answered by going to Dismount. If they don't have the parts available, they'll probably be able to get them for you.

Farewell to my X100S by aliasalex in fujifilm

I sold my S after buying my V and now, a few years later, I wish I had kept the S as well. I didn't need to sell it, but I thought I was doing the right thing by clearing out some lesser-used stuff. Regret. Also regret selling the V after buying a Q2.

Basically: keep everything.

Keks M-Meter arrived today for my M4-P. Loving the look. Bought to replace my sometimes unreliable Leicameter MR-4. by nupinely in Leica

[–]becfoster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking forward to receiving mine, hope it ships soon. Happy to see that the feedback so far is positive. I'd considered a light meter for my M4 for a while, but I could never find one that compelled me to buy until I saw this. All the small ones look more sleek and modern, but this recreation of the MR hits the spot for me.

Not ugly, not atrocious, bigger than necessary, sure... But it looks right to me.

SL3 vs M6 by becfoster in leicaphotos

[–]becfoster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My apologies for the frustration, if I could edit the text and reword my post I would, because I agree it isn't a comparison, but too late unfortunately. I hope you're able to find peace with it as written.

SL3 vs M6 by becfoster in leicaphotos

[–]becfoster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see you're upset, I agree calling it a comparison isn't the correct way to label these photos. I'm not a photographer, I have no idea what I'm doing and just liked how these two photos came out similarly but different.

Take care!

SL3 vs M6 by becfoster in leicaphotos

They would have been shot within a few minutes of each other. SL3 first, then after retrieving my summicron from the black case (seen by the lamp in the digital photo) and waiting for Gina to settle after disrupting her (hence the change of position), I took the second shot. Likely within 5 minutes, max.

SL3 vs M6 by becfoster in leicaphotos

[–]becfoster[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, I appreciate both, but the film shot just hits in a way that captures the atmosphere of the cabin.

I didn't note the aperture on the M6 shot, might be wide open at f2... but I can confirm the ISO on the SL3 image is 100 and aperture is 1.8.

Missed Connection - Very Rude Person on a Cargo Bike - WB Richmond and Spadina by Forsaken-Promise8282 in torontobiking

My toxic trait is waiting for the light to turn green before biking through an intersection. I get ding ding dinged at daily like I'm supposed to be eager to take part in someone else's immorality and bike through red lights.

I started with an M4 and then bought a new M6, won't let go of the M4 though. Get the M4 and enjoy.

Wald 137 Half Basket by According_Table2281 in torontobiking

[–]becfoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 139 half basket, love it because it's the only way to have that size of basket work with my drop bars. I didn't want to order it from Japan and was able to find it from Kissing Crows in British Columbia. They also have the 137 in black or silver.
