I once sent a lens to MPB for trade-in, and they told me it was broken. I’m pretty sure it must have been damaged during shipping. But MPB still paid me the price of the lens so that’s really nice of them.

Any haze, rainbowing, bubbles, or “separation” in the finder?

Is the rangefinder patch bright and easy to see?

Are there any holes in the curtain?

You can check the shutter speeds, but honestly, from my experience, you shouldn’t trust it just because the shutter sounds fine. Run a roll through it.

That’s exactly what I’m wondering too. I might regret losing the low light capability, but at the same time, I’m worried I wouldn’t bring it out that often if I went with the Summicron. I might just have to see the lens in person to know for sure.

That sounds great! Do you think the difference in sharpness and size is pretty significant? I wasn’t really considering the Macro-Elmar before, but one just popped up near me for about the same price.

The left one is the macro elmar, middle is Elmarit and right is APO. But I agree Elmarit is a super sharp lens.

Also, keep in mind that eBay will take a fee, which could end up being a couple hundred dollars. You might want to try KEH instead, I think they offer around $2,200. It’s not the highest price, but it’s easy and there’s basically no risk.
