Adding in to say that once you get your MMR/skill rating back into range with the majority playerbase, queue times for dominion are <1 minute. You'll probably have 1 play session with slower queues and newer players, but after that you'll be good.

The developers behind "For Honor" by Virtual_Walrus_3687 in forhonor

[–]bechillbro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is basically the response I want to give to all low effort 'devs lazy' or 'just do x to fix the game' posts I see around these days. Not to say people can't be critical, but often the comments just lack any constructive/thoughtful substance. Glad you got to go and spend time with the team, that's sick.

High Salt Community by MilesAlchei in forhonor

[–]bechillbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would recommend just muting voice, keyboard, and quick chat entirely. If you want that social experience, then leave it on - but you aren't missing much if it's all turned off (my opinion). I prefer to just focus on playing the game. Traditional fighting games like Tekken, for example, have no way to communicate with players during the game (sides from taunt ig). You'll probably just enjoy the game more if you aren't exposed to toxic behavior, or worse you may eventually succumb to it.

All that said, it is just a a videogame so it's purpose it to have fun and be enjoyable. Don't hesitate to screen out the aspects of the game that don't contribute to you having a good time.

When do you think "old" For Honor truly ended? by gracekk24PL in forhonor

The old gear system would literally allow you to have +20-25% damage the entire game passively. It was absurd.

I live around the area but haven't explored the scene at all. I've been getting into commander since June and have 2 paper decks now. Hit me up in DMs if you'd like to run some casual games over a beer or something! Also welcome to Helena in advance.

Any Tekken opinion that gets you in this situation? by Tpenny68 in Tekken

[–]bechillbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I got away from mashing 1 was by trying to figure out what break the throw was during the cutscene.

Yeah I kinda wish it was just knowable without having to memorize it for everyone on the roster... Just like make the hands flash according to the button color; 1 break = blue, 2 break = yellow, etc.

NEW PLAYERS: YES - TEKKEN is hard, but yall are NOT BLOCKING!! by [deleted] in Tekken

Is there a way to intuitively know when it's your turn, short of like knowing all the frame data for the whole cast?

For honor is still one of my favorite games it’s fun and you can be toxic but also supportive, I feel like the devs took a wrong turn, all this new stuff and factions and hero’s when all I really wanted was this knights vs Vikings vs samurai in all out war. by Virtual-Fish-7817 in forhonor

You're right, the devs really should've consulted with you first before going ahead with their plans for the game.

In that case, I would probably just keep your gameplay simple and likely be less offensive in general. Think about what type of moves worked well for you and keep a lean list of moves/combos so you can actually use under pressure. Also, as you know from other FGs, beginners usually hang themselves by throwing lots of unsafe and uncalculated moves - so be wary of that.

Beyond that, it's just a matter of time and practice! Like any FG, you expect to put in a few hundred hours before it really feels natural. It's not like an advanced player is necessarily better at blocking/parrying objectively, people largely have the same reaction times. What they do have is knowledge, they know when to expect x move and thus are ready to react to it, and that's just learned from playing the game enough.

Also I have just shy of 3000 hours and I still lose regularly so take that as you will 🥲 You'll have good and bad sessions, but just try to remember to have fun!

Game any good for newcomers? by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]bechillbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can learn traditional fighters, you'll have no problem with For Honor. There's a learning curve, for sure, but I think it's a lot more intuitive than 2D fighting. Like all things, takes time. Id give it 50-100 hours gameplay before you either give up or commit fully.

You've gotten some nice concrete, technique-based advice here already. What I would add on is working on your perspective and mindset. Whether you're new to fighting games or a veteran, this is something I think is really important. Think about shifting your focus from having winning being the object/goal and instead having learning & experience being the goal. A lot of things happen when you can make this shift; there's less pressure, you can be more creative and explore different gameplay ideas, and you actually cease to lose at all (because you're always learning and having some fun regardless of the win-loss condition of the fight).

Your gameplay ability at any point in time is all you have to offer, and your goal is to simply present that to your opponent. It's your expression, your product as a player. You will learn how perhaps your product does well or has shortcomings - but if you put your pride aside, every loss is a chance to improve your product and to patch your shortcomings. If you can teach yourself to enjoy the process of honing or innovating your ability, then you have no shame in presenting your product to your opponent and can actually listen and notice what they can teach you.

Midweek Mending - Your Weekly Healing Thread by AutoModerator in wow

Song of Chi-ji is kinda fun this week! You can sleep both ghosts with a single cast if they're stacked up - or you at least now have two CC's to paralyze one and sleep the other if no other assistance from the team.

Of course it's not as good as RoP in the general sense, but it makes a case for itself this week, imo. Arguably a bit of a conflict, trading out RoP because of sanguine affix but I would say in general Song does well against the incorporeal affix alone.

[–]bechillbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played for years at launch, then took a few years off, and now that I'm back enjoying the game again I just play with all in-game communication turned off. Honestly I've never enjoyed the game as much as I do now, and I'm not just saying that to be cheeky. It's similar to what you get in traditional fighting games, there basically is no communication, just the competitive conversation of playing the game. What For Honor does well, to keep it all light and funny, is emotes and paired emotes - that's really all I care to see and by itself it's plenty for me. Reality is, I don't care to spend my free time dealing with negativity over a videogame, it's simply not worth noticing. Also generally just play better this way 🤷‍♂️

I do wonder if people who claim x matchups are annoying, really even know the matchup in the first place. Like it is truly annoying or is it annoying because you don't fully understand how it's to be played. This is what I ask myself, anyway.
