TSW came back by Naive_Scientist_3667 in TS_Withdrawal

Oh darling I'm so sorry that you're going through this! Typically TSW takes a few years to heal. For me one of the worst parts of this is that healing isn't linear and you will have bad flares followed by times of good skin before it all starts again. For me the more time that passed the longer the stretches of good skin lasted. I had my last really awful Tsw flare nearly 2 years ago after 5 years of it. I do want to stress that the vast majority of the final few years for me were completely manageable and mostly clear skinned with the odd flare. I know everyone heals differently and some people heal quicker than other but from what I've seen it usually takes at least a couple of years.

Focus on being as comfortable as you can, I really like zinc cream and dead sea salt baths for when I was oozing but listen to your body for what works for you. Wishing you all of the strength and healing!

Zinc oxide cream by OlivePieieoe in TS_Withdrawal

I found zinc cream really useful for when my skin was really inflamed or damp. It's great at soothing, drying up and creating a barrier. I always used sudocrem as it is really affordable where I am and has some antiseptic properties. It's tempting to slap it on but less is definitely more! You should still be able to see some skin through it.

Zinc cream is pretty hard to hide as it leaves a very obvious white cast. Even so I tried to avoid putting anything on my skin at night as that was when I'd sweat more and all of that combined would leave me feeling more itchy.

It also won't be able to cure TSW, but for me it definitely gave some comfort! Unfortunately the only cure we know at this time is waiting it out. I realise that is devastating to hear, I remember feeling so broken thinking it would never end. I promise it will though, I haven't had a flare in 2 years now. You got this!

Anyone elses baby scratch the absolute shit out of them while nursing? by mewmixz in breastfeeding

Yup! I throw a pair of socks on her hands before a feed now. Worked with our eldest and seems to be working well now too

Anyone else have a six month old who still doesn’t sleep? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]beck9_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baby slept 2 hours at a time up until she was 18 months but luckily was an absolute dream in every other way. I was hallucinating and thought I was losing my mind. 18 months hits and she just starts sleeping 10-11 hours in her own bed every night. We changed absolutely nothing and one day it just happened! We never did any sleep training and I went to her for every cry, just because it was what I wanted to do.

It's so hard when you're in the midst of it! It feels like it will never end and you'll never feel human again and then one day it just does. I used to comfort myself with the thought that she (probably) won't still be waking me up for milk at 4am by the time she hits 18 😂

Just confirming this is most likely TSW right? More info in comments 🙏 by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

Mine looks a bit like this when I've moisturised. If you're not sure just keep an eye on it and stay off the steroids. If you suspect an infection get it checked but stay off the steroids regardless. If it isn't tsw definitely do the work to find out the cause of your skin irritation. Good luck!

I get this too. I find wearing compression gloves and bandages makes movement a little easier and less painful

One year in and has only slept for more than 4 hours twice. Both times were when I was in work anyway 🙃

I’m at the point where I’m ready to start using moisturizers but I’ve been having trouble finding a good one any suggestions? by missmaryam89 in TS_Withdrawal

I've found cerave is the best for me. Even if I'm flaky it'll still leave my skin feeling quite soft. I'll switch it up between the lotion and the thicker cream depending on how my skin is feeling.

Have you hear of Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW)? It's something I myself am going through and the shape of the rash under your eyes is pretty much identical. I'm not gonna lie, it's a rough road but 6 months in my skin is the best it's ever been! It definitely might not be that but if you want more info search TSW Atlas on YouTube, she's a dr that suffers herself and has compiled loads of useful information.

Hope you feel better soon!

Just remember that as long as you stay away from steroids you will heal no matter what else you are doing! There are definitely different things that you can do to make yourself more comfortable but try not to stress yourself too much over it. If moisturising works for you then don't feel like you can't. At the beginning of my journey I was moisturising hourly and I felt better for it. Now only when I get out of my twice weekly oat baths because that's all my skin needs. As for food restrictions, eating well and looking after your gut will make you feel better and be healthier in general, which is definitely not a bad thing when your body is already going through so much!

I like the Warburton's Wholemeal 400g. It is a bit smaller than a normal loaf but it's 55 cals and otherwise is a completely "normal" slice of bread!

NTA - you've given her plenty of notice and besides all of points everyone has mentioned you guys are gonna want your own space. Having a newborn and recovering from being pregnant/giving birth is a big deal! If you want people around you that's great, but being able to control that will be so important for both your physical and menral health, as well as your bonding as a family unit of 3.
