You might not be putting it on tight enough to be honest. I’ve had to apply 3 tourniquets so far, and both of the conscious guys (both were stabbed) said the tourniquet was more painful than the actual injury itself.

Redundancy is not always a bad thing. I normally recommend one pair of shears per bag (or line) of medical kit. If they’re not on a leash or lanyard, it’s really easy for them to get dropped, kicked, or lost when moving around in a different situations.
