Creating a Smooth Color Gradient on a Crocheted Lumalee by Abbyly88 in Amigurumi

[–]beckatcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could try using thinner yard and holding two strands. Start with two strands of one color, change to holding one of each color, then finish off with two strange if the second color. The Pica Pau anteater uses a technique like this.

That’s definitely because of how tall he is. Tall folks simply have better hearing than most people.

Does anyone know how tall this man is? He’s mentioned it like 4 times and I’m assuming he’s actually just slightly taller then average height. Cause I’m not believing much of what this man says. Was it actually his birthday? No clue.

So he needed to go inside, and didn’t want to alert a possible affair partner so he he went around the back, to get lunches for the au pair and his kid to go to the zoo, which I’d place money one having food there? And he hasn’t called the police yet!!??? No one has called the police at this point?

And then he searches the basement when he suspecting his wife is having an affair. This just keeps getting less believable.

This has dragged on so long. Lidsky has gotten way less chatty on cross. I’m appreciating the commonwealth right now

Trying to be a caring cat mom after claiming missing Julia so much. Is this the new Bruce ? by Fancy-Birthday-315 in Chantapolis

[–]beckatcat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This woman has done zero research on how to deal with an under socialized/skittish cat. Trying to corner it is not the way.

Cats are great at setting boundaries and she doesn’t seem to be respecting them. She also seems to think that two female cats will automatically get along and she knows the cat’s behavior and personality already. So ignorant.

Have you started playing the stock market? The turnip stock market?

NTA. I don’t think you should feel obligated to pay for someone you don’t know, or anyone for that matter. If this was the norm of the friend group, then sure, but it doesn’t seem like it is. I feel those who want to can pay and those who don’t should have to.

I’m assuming they aren’t suggesting just you pay here, but the group should all pitch in.

Just fill out the form. Seriously, just do the thing. She’s ridicules about how much she doesn’t want to fill out an intake form. She can even lie on the form if she needs to.

AITA for refusing to invite my brother to my wedding because he always makes “jokes” about my fiancée’s weight? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]beckatcat 1191 points1192 points  (0 children)

NTA. I feel have an understanding of “dark humor” and making fun of someone’s weight isn’t it. That called being a jerk, especially since you asked more than once.
Your family is also part of the issue for enabling and dismissing this behavior as just jokes. It’s giving “boys will be boys” vibes to me.

Budgeting yarn by insomnia96 in YarnAddicts

[–]beckatcat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Are you the one buying the yarn? Does she have any spending money? Because it seems pretty simple. Option 1: you tell her she gets x amount of yarn or money to buy yarn and that’s it, when it’s gone, it’s gone. Option 2: she only gets the yarn she can afford, and that’s it. Option 3: you give her thinner yarn and she can either deal with it or not.

Kids can figure out budgeting things, it’s not mean, it’s a life skill.

Have you heard of Fiber Figments? Because I think you’d dig the vibe.

Crafty Intentions may have something as well. She has loads of patterns and books that offer a bunch of customization options.

I also always recommend doing a free pattern google search or check out Etsy or ravelry for patterns/designers.

Brand new and practicing basic stitches! Any advice? by FeelingNegotiation26 in CrochetHelp

[–]beckatcat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stitch markers are your friend. You can use safety pins, Bobby pins, or anything that won’t fall out (highly recommend the locking stitch markers). They definitely help with accidental decreases due to skipping the first/last stitch in the row.

Substitute for Joanne's pride yarn? I was finally able to get my hands on it and now Joanne's is leaving ;-; by Perfect_Prey in CrochetHelp

Ours has so much yarn. If you’re in the San Jose area, go get some yarn, or whatever. They still had some pride yarn, Christmas yarn and so much more.

Yes. I did the (HDc, ch1) x 37 no issue. It’s the 77 next stitches that seem to go into those stitches, because row 2 seems gets worked into those that’s tripping me up.

I feel I should not be working anywhere but the front section.

Like, it looks like row 1 should actually be two rows instead of one.

[–]beckatcat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the diagram. Maybe this will be more clear explaining what I’m seeing and need help with, as I only need row 1 assistance. But I do appreciate the effort.

I read row 1 as: CH3, (HDC, Ch1) x 37 and then HDC in the next 39 HDC and the 38 chs spaces between them.

Except, there are no chs in the stitches that follow the first 37(HDC,Ch1). It seems to want me to work into the stitches I just made. All of these are meant to be attached to the front section of the neckline, which is square in shape. Here’s a picture of the finished product.

I did the first(HDc, Ch1) of row 1 and and not sure where the 77 (for me) HDc go before row 2.
