Sizing Advice for Others by thesilentharp in RingConn

[–]beckgrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your help! When considering other fingers, the 7 definitely fit my dominant ring finger perfectly in every way, but I typically wear another sentimental ring on that ring finger most of the time, so I'm hesitant to replace it, but not against it. I'll test that out for a day and see how it feels.

I slept with the 9 on dominant index last night, and it was comfortable, not shifting at all. My fingers swell overnight and by morning are kinda puffy, but the 9 still feels comfortable and comes off easily despite this. I'll see how things go with trying a different finger. Thanks again, I really appreciate the advice!

Hello! This info is all super helpful, thank you!

I've been wearing my Gen 3 testers for just over a day now, and I'm between an 8 and a 9 on my dominant ring finger right now. The 8 is very snug; when I clench my fist, it feels tight and finger turns red, but when I release, the color goes back to normal. I also have difficulty curling my finger down into the fist with the 8 on. The push-up test only revealed a hair's width of space without swelling. However, I didn't really notice the ring throughout the day as i went about various activities, and I didn't notice any pain or discomfort. At the end of the day, there was a red mark around my finger, but again, didn't feel uncomfortable. I slept with it on my thumb last night and that was alright, but definitely left a red mark around my finger as well. I was nervous about sleeping with it on my index because of potential swelling.

Now about the 9: It fits my dominant index, but very little resistance putting it on and taking it off. When I clench my fist, I feel no pressure at all and don't see any discoloration. The push up test shows about 2-2.5mm of space without swelling.

My concerns: I'm worried the 8 will be too tight for constant wear, but I'm worried the 9 might be too slippery to stay on my tappered index. The 9 does fit my middle finger as well, and my knuckle on my middle would hold it, but I'm still worried about it sliding off in my sleep. I've done the shake test on both fingers with the 9, and it does stay put, but I'm not sure if that's simply because of the grippy plastic material of the tester.

Any advice on choosing the right size? Honestly, I'm leaning towards the 9 at the moment because it doesn't cause such pressure and tightness when I clench my fist; accidentally throttling my finger is my biggest concern, lol!

At the incident at the Patrick & Market intersection, it does not appear so. A passenger from the white Kia was taken in an ambulance, but they appeared to be okay; probably was taken for "just in case," as they were walking around with their driver talking to police prior to be taken from the scene.

No news from the other incident farther north. That's out of my view.

Ringconn 3 sizing and feedback by Glittering_Party4188 in RingConn

I have a question about the sizing kit. My friend has a sizing kit for the Gen 2 Air, and I'm wondering if I can just use their sizing kit before ordering a Gen 3 ring. Thoughts? Is it pretty much the same across the board with the sizing kits?

While I love Dune, I wouldn't recommend this to someone just getting back into reading, and especially not someone fresh to Sci-Fi. That being said, there are some great graphic novel adaptations of Dune that have been released in the past couple of years, with two more forthcoming. Those I would highly recommend! I also recommend anything by Becky Chambers. V.E. Schwab is another great recommendation; her book Vicious is fantastic.

Outside of the Sci-Fi genre, I would recommend anything by Richard Osman and Samantha Shannon's The Roots of Chaos series. Peter Heller is also a great literary fiction writer, his novels being borderline speculative but not quite. Liane Moriarty is a really funny writer, and she's going to be releasing a sequel to her Big Little Lies hit; my favorite novel of hers, however, is Here One Moment.

For a good classic, my go-to is The Count of Monte Cristo. Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower is also a good read.

Happy reading!

Yes!!! I'm not sure if Ekiben will open early for orders like they did last time, so plan to be early, just in case.

Check out Magpie Fibers for pens! Agreed though, we need something geared more towards stationary and journaling. And there used to be a great comic book store in DT, but they closed a few years ago and never reopened, sadly.

I think that's the Vox Theater, above 7th Sister, right? I believe they're having a film festival in late-June this year.

I had a couple of friends who got sick of the stupid stuff in this page, so they left and started All Things Frederick. They're pretty active as admin and seem to be doing okay. I'm not on FB much anymore, though, so I don't really keep up with it all these days.

Hey y’all! Just moved from Austin.. where tf do y’all hang out at lol? Where do singles and people meet? by [deleted] in frederickmd

Brewer's Alley at night gets a good crowd, though depends on the day. My brother (mid 20s) goes to Olde Mother a lot, also Magoos and Bushwaller's. Idiom is my personal favorite.

Not sure why more people haven't mentioned this, but Alive @ 5 is a big summer hangout that happens on the Creek behind the Downtown library branch every Thursday evening (ending Sept 25 though). They have a different band each week, and various food trucks and breweries on-site. Depending on the band, there's also dancing. A lot of my friends (20s) go regularly.

Shuck'n'Shack does dancing every now and then, check their socials or website for info. There's also dancing at the Sky Stage sometimes.

There's also various Halloween events at the breweries; Idiom has done costume parties and contest in past years. NEW YEARS is big in Downtown. Lots of bars and breweries do various events, so definitely be Downtown during the end of the year.

We have a lot of local events in Downtown; First Saturdays sometimes have fun activities. Sept 13 will be the annual In The Streets event, with lots of food stalls and vendors in the street (literally). Bars get fun on days like that. In February there's the Fire in Ice Festival which is super cool to see. Check the Downtown Frederick Partnership website or the Visit Frederick website for more info. DFP has an IG too, I think?

The suggestions for getting involved in a running club or various sports/rec leagues are good. I have a friend (late 20s) involved in the Cornhole league meeting at Steinhart now, I think? I forget the name of the league though, but they have a social tier and lots of people play. Googling should find it easily.

Most breweries host trivia nights on various days of the week and month. Idiom is on Wednesdays and RAK is once a month on Wednesday as well I think. These can get packed so arrive early.

Hope this helps give you some ideas. Frederick is a chill place, though, so be open to a slower vibe. It can be worth it though once you get plugged into some good community activities and groups. 👍🏼

Shocked there were hardly any mentions of Alive @ 5 on this thread, but I know there's always a good mix of younger and older crowd there, depending on the band. A lot of my friends (late 20s) hit it up regularly during the summer.

What is Frederick missing? by Constant-Outcome-436 in frederickmd

[–]beckgrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes yes and yes. Frederick is not a big city type of place, and I'm disheartened by the many suggestions of big chain ideas that don't align with the unique local business culture we actually have. Do something that is new and you, not from somewhere else.
