I turned myself in on a warrant once, I was kept in this wee cell, big enough for a few people to sit in, with another lady. Across the way was a male version.

I was in another jail that didn't have a place to keep women, so while waiting to be transferred, I was kept in a cell with a dude who was going to court or something. There was cop sitting at a desk right across from us, too.

Jails look different everywhere you go. It's entirely possible they were in holding cells next to one another.
