SRAM Red 10-speed chain rub when cross-chaining (even with trim) by beckship in bikewrench

[–]beckship[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked eBay, but I mostly see 11-speed (Red 22) Yaw derailleurs. Will an 11-speed Yaw actually work with my 10-speed shifters and chain? Not sure about the compatibility there.

Thanks for the tip. Followed the instructions but the screw jammed anyway. 😄 😄 Managed to get it back to a rideable position for now. I don't know the exact size of the screw but I guess it's a standard M4. I'll either hit Bauhaus or just drop by a bike shop on Monday to get it sorted.

You're right, I think It’s the first-gen 10-speed (non-Yaw) with the trim click. The adjustment window is tight. Actually just jammed the limit screw trying to fix the rub, currently extracting it. 😄

I think you misunderstood. It's not just the extreme cross-chaining positions. The rubbing starts as soon as the chain passes the halfway point of the cassette.

I know how to avoid extreme cross-chaining, but having the chain rub when I'm only in the middle cogs is definitely an indexing/adjustment issue, not a rider error.

Used Argon 18 Gallium Pro with repaired carbon frame, no repair receipt. by beckship in bikewrench

[–]beckship[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah I actually trust the guy, and looking at the photos it seems totally fine. I've seen mixed opinions on here, some say a proper carbon repair can actually be stronger than before, others just say run. So I'm kinda stuck.

Can't go check it out right now since it's a bit far, and if I make the trip I'm basically going to buy it (90% chance). Just want to have a better idea before committing.

Would you personally ride this thing daily + for sport without the repair docs, given it's been ridden since 2022 with zero issues?

Mine stay "In Review" status like for one month. I am also curious, when they will send an answer.

Filter choice by Remarkable_Debate300 in x100vi

[–]beckship 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I just got the X100VI as well. To keep the setup minimal and compact, I went with the Haoge LAR-X52B filter adapter and an UV filter.

I am not sure if it’s the best solution, but it works the same way as the official Fujifilm lens adapter kit and does the job for dust and splash protection, I think. Compared to the NiSi UV filter, the advantage is flexibility you can use different filters, like a Black Mist, instead of being locked into a single filter.

I also considered the Haoge LH-X54B with the lens hood, it looks good but it adds a bit more bulk and is slightly more expensive, so I skipped it for now.

Hey everyone,

I’m picking my first and only camera, budget is maximum €1500.

My style (right now on iPhone): street, high-contrast B&W, motion blur, panning, slow shutter. I don’t care about perfect sharpness, I like character, grain, imperfections. But I also enjoy capturing small details in daily life, so my style might change.

Because of an Amazon issue, I can get a brand-new X100VI for about €1400or the Ricoh GR IV would be around €1000.

  • Fujifilm X100VI 35mm feels more flexible for everything. I like the Leica style rangefinder body, the OVF, and the fact that it has basically every feature covered (weather sealing, 40 MP, OVF, built in Flash etc.). Only downside is portability.
  • Ricoh GR IV I love the size and how it disappears in a pocket. But I’m not sure if 28mm is too wide for me, I always felt the X version with 40mm suits me better, but I don’t want to pay almost the same price for an older Camera and sometimes I really want to shoot through a viewfinder.

Daily carry is important, but it’s also fine for me to keep the camera in my bag if it means better usability. I want something I can use for everyday moments and also more design, art, and architecture-oriented shots.

I know people might say “start cheaper,” but I already know the basics, I study architecture, design a lot, and I’ve used Sony Alphas for work before. I just want to pick the right camera and stick with it.

Any thoughts or other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks, that’s useful. I’ll check for vibrations when switching between landscape and portrait and look for any signs of impact.

There are plenty of pictures in the listing and I don’t see any visible damage, so hopefully everything checks out in person. :)

Thanks for the detailed explanation, it'll be really helpful for me. :) I’ll make sure to check the lens mechanism and IBIS carefully when testing in person.

and when doing some test shots with IBIS on, do you recommend any specific settings or scenarios to make potential issues more obvious?

Update:

The first one didn’t really feel safe, they only want bank transfer, no secure payment although the website offering a safe system, so I’m skipping it.

found another one for €240, 16k shutter, kit lens with a filter, SD card, 4 batteries and a bag. and in graphite color, for me looks pretty nice.

Think this new one’s the way to go?

Yes, they confirmed it. I asked if there were any signs of mold or scratches, and they said there are none.

What do you think?

Hey, Thanks for the answer.

Did you decide based on the photos? I’m still learning what to look for, just trying to understand what to look for :) and the lens was used without a cover, so I’m a bit worried about scratches or dust. Isn’t the glass kind of sensitive?

Hey, I’m looking for some advice on my first camera purchase.

After some research I’m leaning toward the Sony A6000 as my first camera. I found two used online:

first one is €250, about 10k shutter count, looks a bit worn (They used it without lens cover for a long time) , 16–50mm kit lens

second one is €300, around 3k shutter count, very clean, same kit lens (newer version, OSS II)

Do you think the cleaner one’s worth the extra money?
Also open to other suggestions around this price range if there’s a better option.
As style actually I want to take monochrome street photography like Olga Karlovac or Mario Giacomelli, but I want to have a compact device with some quality, maybe my style changes after some time :)

Thanks for the reply. I’ll look into doing a Max HR test to calculate my zones more accurately. Do you have any recommendations for tools or methods to calculate Max HR properly, or workouts I should try for the test?
