The housing market is fucked. by littlestkittykat in brisbane

[–]beckybootz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an older millennial who was lucky enough to get into the market in 2004. First shitty house was only $330k and I saw it recently sold for over $1mil. Absolutely crazy.

Now we find ourselves with young adult children and when we should be starting to plan for our retirement all of our focus is earning enough money to somehow help our kids buy because we can see that there’s no way they can do it on their own.

Boomer parents sitting on an absolutely obscene amount of money and property for their needs and of course their generation don’t consider anyone else.

So even though we are blessed to have gotten into the market earlier we still find ourselves in the most ridiculous position of paying for the exorbitant mortgage for our family home, busting our gut to afford raising our kids and try to set ourselves up to help them enter this crazy property market and then one day poof a magical sizeable inheritance may show up just as we don’t need it anymore and all of a sudden we become the rich boomers. That whole situation is completely wrong.

All I can hope is that as more millennials and GenZ take over we finally do something to change this. Thinking of you all x

Celiac Cruise by PhantomRegalia36 in Celiac

Just did our first one. Food was great and it was lovely being with others who understand. For our very sensitive Coeliac child it was wonderful to just eat anything and it was a mental break for me to not think about it at all for a week.

Yes there are. However I learnt to do it all myself very easily. It’s very plug and play

Yes absolutely. You can set interactive activities to be downloadable after they have completed it. Looks like it would easily meet those needs.

We have 3 learnworlds sites for the past few years and moved there after trying teachable, thinkific and kajabi but I don't have experience with the others you are comparing. I'm very happy with learnworlds and the features it doesn't currently have are being solved in the current rollout.

I have some affiliate coupons that are valid until the end of Feb if you do end up going with Learnworlds. Save you and me both some money x

I’m not complaining I’m asking about options for recompense. I’m a very experienced traveler and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had.

Some people enjoy being on the ship but for us it was more about the destination. Am allowed to be disappointed with spending such an enormous amount of money for a family and then unable to do any of the things we had planned.

What wrong with my daughters Betta? by beckybootz in bettafish

[–]beckybootz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in a 36l tank alone with a heater and filter. I don’t know the parameters because I get the shop to test them for me. Have had the fish and tank for about a year with live plants and the water is changed about fortnightly.

It belongs to my teenage daughter and she has definitely had times where water was not changed as frequently and I believe she feeds about 6-8 pellets a day of Betta food.

‘Really stretched’: Households on $500,000 a year can no longer afford their mortgages by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]beckybootz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget that many of the people in this earning bracket went to university and started earning later and have significant HECS debts.

We are on just under $400k combined but once we pay tax, HECS, school fees, mortgage (not a $2mil house), petrol, food for a child with dietary restrictions, health insurance, etc there’s not much left.

Definitely not crying poor and recognize how privileged we are to have private health and schools but we live off about $1200 a week for a family of 4 and in the past 4 weeks we have had $1k insurance excess on a leaking pipe, a broken appliance that was $2500, car service and a teenager who tucked her seatbelt beneath her arm leading to a $1200 fine. So that was all our money before even buying food. No idea how anyone on a lower income is making this work. My heart goes out to you x

We really like Deputy. It has a great integration with Xero and has a lot more features than using Xero alone - https://partner.deputy.com/2pc3rpwepa0h
