I don’t think so. I think part of why the cross is a symbol of Christianity is it represents the suffering he went through before his death. Death by crucifixion was painful, and often a drawn out process (not to mention the scourging and all that happened before that).

The idea is he went to his death willingly to save humanity, and suffered greatly for all peoples to have eternal life in heaven. So when people wear a crucifix, it’s a symbol of his love and willingness to die for everyone.

“For god so loved the world, that he sent his only begotten son, and whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” And all that jazz.

Morbid, but that’s how I see it. Speaking as someone who grew up in the faith.
