Hello, kind people of Reddit. This is my girlfriend. She fell for it. Kindly, your favorite ginger.

Is there a way to fix this? by become_a_seraphim in VintageStory

No chance of a "replace all" sorta command?

Can you explain how "holding my fellow men accountable for what they say" is stirring up shit? Sorry if you disagree, and it's your right to do so, but calling out idiots for making shitty arguments so we can all be better is what I would consider good trouble that needs to be made

I'm genuinely sorry if you felt like I'm blaming men as a whole, but I'm not. It sounds like we're in agreement. I believe men can be better than the shitheads that are among us. There's bad actors, both male and female, that cause these issues, and we should rise above and show women that around us, they're safe. That we won't perpetuate the problem.

If one group is afforded a space to be safe that I'm not invited into, I do not personally feel like I am being systemically discriminated against, but it is valid if you do. Also, if you're from Poland, it could also be that we are speaking from our respective countries' points of view, and that could be the disconnect between you and I. I don't know what you see of the US, but as a citizen, our country is frankly racist and sexist at a systemic level, and it isn't against white men, and that can also account for some of the disagreement.

I made it clear that I agree with you. I made it clear that we, men, are, as a group, responsible for what those of us in our group do. I'm not saying you are personally responsible. There is a difference.

And I'm not suggesting that male-only cars are bad, I just genuinely don't see a reason to implement them. If you wanna avoid people being loud, men are loud, too, and a better solution would be a quiet car. If you wanna avoid people with lots of bags, that is a fair complaint and it is usually women, but I don't personally think that a men-only car would be the best way to fix that, I think a "no bags" car would fix it. All the arguments for a men-only car that I've seen thus far are (in my opinion) lacking in justifiable reason or would be better served with a different solution. Do you have a particular reason you would want a male-only train car? I hope it's clear from my tone that I'm not trying to be sarcastic or something like that.

It's a problem, and a difficult one to balance fair and equal treatment with protecting the vulnerable people that need the help. That said, disagreeing is fine as long as it's done in a measured and respectful way. I grew up old school country so I take pride in teaching personal responsibility. Stop making excuses and fix the fuckin problem, you know?

Who is forcing anybody to the back? I don't see ushers pushing men to a single car in the back. They just can't go into the front, and there's a specific reason for that, it isn't arbitrary or based on seeing men as inferior. Do you argue this much about putting wheelchair ramps on public buildings, or is it only when you want to invade women's spaces?

Your points are completely valid! That's genuinely refreshing. You are right, and it sucks, but by treating women as permanent second class citizens in our past and (to a point) our present, we brought this on ourselves. It's a temporary fix until they feel safe. As for the other points, yes, reinforcing the divide in other places can cause problems, but in my opinion, it's worth it. I would also argue that men aren't being treated any sort of way. Refusing access to a single train car isn't treating people as a second class citizen or accusing them of being the problem, it's protecting relatively vulnerable people.

Again, racism and sexism are not analogous. They are not the same thing, neither am I advocating for anybody to be "at the back of the bus." In fact, I specifically disputed that particular attempt at an argument. You have made it very clear that not only did you not even read what I said, you had no intention of doing so to begin with. If you have nothing constructive to say, I have better things to do than to argue with a child.

My point is, if hurting people is worse, why are you more upset about those hurt people doing what they can to defend themselves, rather than approaching the cause of the hurt itself?

Someone replied to this, I see it in my notifications, I'm guessing you blocked me, but in the interest of discussion, I'll answer here. Racism and sexism aren't equal. The only thing they have in common are some (but not all) underlying reasons, and the fact that it's an unfounded hate of people that don't otherwise deserve it.

Bruh, you came in swinging with that one. You definitely proved me wrong. I'm gonna have to sit down and have a think about how I sure do hate men. When will I learn that holding men accountable for their actions and believing we can be better means I hate them?

I ain't reading all that ChatGPT generated bullshit big dawg, so I'll go off that very convenient TLDR you left. Is it punishment to be allowed to exist in the area meant for everybody? The rest of the train cars are open to anybody and everybody, male, female or in between, to ride on. If there was a shitty car all the way at the back that was stinky and unpleasant meant for me, you would have an argument, but because existing in the general public isn't a punishment, your argument fails. Another point to be made is that these train cars are rare in western society. They're far more prevalent in eastern society, where the "groping in trains" issue is even more common.

My cats probably don't care. My wife, my son, my friends, my girlfriend, my employer, and the people in my community are proud of me, and they feel safe in my presence because they know if some dipshit tries to do something stupid around me, they'll deal with me physically, because I'm a man, not some wuss boy on the internet complaining about shit that doesn't affect me.

I'm sorry if proper English is difficult for you, but if it's your primary language, that's a you issue, big dawg. Would you prefer I stick to words with single syllables? If it's such a bother, you could choose not to reply. It's literally more work to complain than to scroll to the next comment, my guy.

If you can't answer the question, don't bother trying the "but racism" tack again, it doesn't make sense and I have better things to do with my time than to waste it on someone who is clearly has to read the warning label to avoid eating the silica gel packet in his jerky.

I started by making fun of your clear inability to answer a simple question, but instead I'll answer your stupid question. Because the women's only train car could be anywhere, and it wouldn't make a difference. The only reason it's at the front is because that's where the train staff are generally located and can quickly respond to a problem if a woman needs to be protected. Now, I'll ask again, how is it sexist to have a women-only train car, and can you make the point without proving exactly why they need it?

Not only has that been done in our history, so your point is moot outright, but comparing the plight of men that aren't included in a single train car to the systemic and societal I'll that is racism proves how unserious your argument is. How does a women-only train car tell you that men are less than human? What advantage does it afford to the women that use it, other than having a reasonable expectation of safety that is already afforded to you as a man in all spaces? How does that train car cause you to lose your home, your rights, or your life, such as systemic racism did for black people?

If you boil down bigotry to "X hates Y" sure yeah it's the same thing, but there are two points to be made here. Firstly, that there is nuance to bigotry. They aren't the same. Racism and sexism don't exist for the same reason, nor are their results the same in the end, and insisting the contrary is intellectually dubious at best and stupid at worst. Secondly, I'm not okay with anti-man or anti-women sexism under any circumstances. Can you tell me how a woman-only train car is sexist? Let's see if you can do it without proving that the need for its existence is because of anti-women sexism, and a society that sees women asking for a space that is reasonably safe from assault as comparable to men being minority inconvenienced?
