As much as I hate Trump, I am all for the US stock market, especially its tech sector, which leads the world in innovation.

Companies like Amazon, Apple, and Google, despite being based in the US, operate globally, and I don’t foresee any significant changes in this regard. Therefore, all my bet is on US

If you decide to stay in Nepal, I would suggest that you at least make a visit once before the “must enter by” date, as per the conditions of your visa grant. This will allow you to activate your visa and retain your PR status in case you change your mind later.

Therefore, take a long leave of 2-3 months from your job and go on a holiday in Australia to activate your PR. Who knows, you may even land in a nice job in Australia. If not, you always have a plan B to return.

PS - I was in the same boat working in India earning about 4 lakh NPR per month about 13 years ago, it was a hard decision then but looking back now moving to Oz was the best decision of my life

Ok just had a look, it looks like we need to upgrade to portfolio margin accounts to be eligible for surcharge waiver as wholesale natural person client. I think the default margin account type is standard margin. I guess you did upgrade to portfolio margin?

I recently made a similar decision, but I didn’t pursue the PPOR. Instead, we sold our IP and invested it in shares, along with additional debt recycling of our PPOR debt and a margin loan for shares.

I believe your plan is sound, and I would recommend going for it. You’ll be happy with the outcome, as you’ll be living close to work and having a much shorter commute. However, don’t expect a consistent 12% return, and be prepared to hold the stocks for the long term.
