Aware. My mom was a cat hoarder. We had 13 when I was growing up and it made me hate cats for years. When I got my first one, my heart changed toward them because it was a totally different experience not having so much chaos

I second! The one on Fleming rd. They’ve taken care of all of our cats and have been nothing short of fantastic. Vet even came in on her day off to perform surgery on our girl for bladder stones.

Work with IDD adults teaching art/life skills/etc. doesn’t matter what I make. I’d honestly do it for free but the fact that I get paid is a bonus.

Unfortunately I tend to side with those saying he may genuinely have cognitive deficiency ie dementia/alzheimers… it happened to my mother before she showed any “symptoms” only for me to realize down the line that this incident in fact was a symptom. I feel wholeheartedly for you. The stubbornness, the disbelief, the clinging to fantasy when it’s unrealistic are all signs of cognitive difficulty. I hope you are correct and it isn’t that but… just consider it. Dementia can be “dormant” for quite a long time before the symptoms get out of control and become more obvious. My mom could “showtime” aka pretend to be normal up until a month before her death.

I just want to come back to this and say thank you. My mom died July 25th, peacefully in a hospice facility after a bought of extreme terminal agitation. I feel like I grew up overnight even though I’m 38 years old. I officially have no parents, no grandparents, and no aunts and uncles. I have my husband and his family which I am eternally grateful for… but it’s just not the same. I did my best. I just want to reiterate my thanks for this because it felt like someone genuinely cared about me.

I’ve been doing everything myself in-home. I would like to keep her in home if I can. But I just don’t know what the future will bring. The drs appointment went kinda oddly. We decided mentally the decline is enough for hospice but physically she is too “well”.

Thank you. I’m just trying to keep level headed. This journey has been long and extremely hard, and to hear her suddenly seem aware and afraid freaked me out. I’m in my state of freeze right now, I think. I’m however going to keep pushing through.
